    Default The right stuff

    Hey,

I want to say that DeI has made me love R2. I've despised this game for over a year and have only played a few things I thought were interesting like EE, Rise of Christianity (formerly Tetrarchy) and occasionally ToonAIO.
But I think DeI has given R2 a level of depth that is enough to keep me practically obssesed about ongoing campaigns. The AoR system, revised stances and food/PublicOrder balance actually make me think about what I'm doing.

I can actually say I play differently with different factions which in turn has made me give some factions a chance, enjoy their playstyle and become interested in them and who they were, like say the Odryssian Kingdom.

I've also encountered a few buggy things that have already been mentioned like the Agranian Peltast unit size and others I can't remember right now. The trait system could use some fine-tuning (especially governors in my opinion)

I wanted to write an AAR with pics or something, but I'm not sure I have the time.

So thanks a lot to the team; if someone else wants to post about something they like or don't about R2+DeI in it's current state feel free

PS: can anyone tell me how I can go about posting pics in a thread? Do I need to find a hosting site? If so can you recommend a non- one? Thanks.

Imgur is pretty neat. Also you can download a tight little software called hyperdesktop to crope/screenshot/upload as fast as lightning.

    Hi!

Indeed DeI 1.xx is great! I can't even name everything thats so great about this mod! I am currently playing a Roman campaign which is the best R2 campaign ever and maybe even the best TW expierence at all. I try to stay close to history and that really works fine !
E.g. I had my first punic war close to historical dates and with a similar outcome that is historically passed on. Carthage lost the mediterran island to me but I still could make peace with them afterwards. I had plently of "border-wars" with different celtic tribes and Massilia which I won. And I made allies or client-states with them to secure my northern border. So now I am in the second punic war which started at 220 BC while the real one started at 218 BC so again really close to history. It really is so immersive and fun and at the same time challenging (even more if you play with some house-rules like I do).
The campaign part of DeI always was very good and is even better right now. But now the battles are finally more challenging too. At this point I have to say a big thank you to KAM who made a wonderful battle system. Even despite the rather poor battle AI (not a DeI fault), battles are challenging and fun. You have to use your units to their best to defeat an equal or slightly superior enemy or you'll loose! Fighting 10,000 enemies with about 4,000 own soldiers will lead to a crushing defeat finally (equal quality of troops assumed). The AI is handling all the CA/BA changes very well. I see the AI handling their cav very well attacking my skirmishers or flanking or rear charging my infantry for example.
At first I sometimes thought the enemy could rout earlier like "man you damn Hoplites rout, rout you b..tards" but its really giving you a challenge and it still really feels realistic. You have to get a feeling for your own and the enemy troops again because it really differs from previous versions of the mod but thats a good thing too.
Like I said the battle sytem is great, hats off KAM!!

Actually I was thinking about writing an AAR too but I think its too time consuming, time in which I rather play this awesome mod
Those are just some of my first expierences from DeI 1.xx, I can't mention all the cool moments I had in this ~225 turns Roman campaign. But I have to say again that this mod is really GREAT! Nevertheless I also want to point out that after over one year of developement even CA needs some credits for creating the base-game of this mod which isn't too bad either. Or to say it in a positive way: Rome 2 is a good game! And DeI maxed the fun out of it!

At this point I personally want to thank DRESDEN! Without him and his dedication to the DeI project none of this would ever have been possible!

I think that besides all the bug-reporting and slight critisim and "I don't like this and that..."-reports on this forum the gratitude falls a little short! So again thank you DRESDEN and the whole DeI development team: THANK YOU!!!
(don't get me wrong though, bug reports are important so keep'em up and communication about the mod is always appreciated!)
So thats it for now, hope you guys have as much fun with the mod as I do, keep it up!

@PS yeah you'll need to upload your pics to some imagehosters to post them in full screen, I can recommend pic-upload.de. Its a german side with good speed and availability. I never had problems with that side!

Hey guys, I remember reading in different threads that music packs were compatible with DeI but I can't find them right now.

So just to double check, I want to try this mod http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...-Dec-Update%29

I won't have compatibility troubles right?

I am not 100% sure but I think it should be compatible since DeI doesn't touch any sound files as far as I know. But there might be something in that mod which breaks DeI scripts like e.g. camera mods do. It might be or might be not.
If you really want that music mod I would just test it. You can still delete it if any bugs happen.

Im using this music mod myself and I have no conflicts so you should be fine using it. Imo it really adds something to the campaign and battles. it is subtle but still noticeable and sometimes gives you that kick music can in the heat of battle.

Btw. Remember to use spoiler when posting images so that it wont fill up the entire post. For neatness sake
