of mtw2..would you possibly be able to play rome, shogun, or mtw1 again?
After i got my new graphics card installed and played the demo to mtw2, i tried to
play the xl mod for mtw, and after continuous ctds(not because of the mod), i just uninstalled it. Then i tried to play the only rome mod i had left, chivalry .50, i got bored after 1 minute and uninstalled it, i dont think ill ever be able to go back to mtw or rome, do you guys feel the same?

I have almost never gone back to a TW title after the sequal has come out and I don´t think I will now either. But who knows, the leap between RTW and MTW2 is not that great and Rome is played out in a more interesting historical period imo. Can´t wait for the MTW2 mods that takes us back to the Roman era. I feel a bit sorry for the ambitious mods that are being released now or have not been released yet as I think a lot of people will not play them when MTW2 is out. They will surely have a user base but not as big as they deserve imo.

I'm playing Shogun right now as Usuegi and it's still the best of all of them. Atmosphere...music...culture...humour...AI...I love it....love the maps too.

Going back to RTW to play a mod depends on several things, but mainly the game play of M2TW...is it going to be just a prettier RTW? If so, then RTR, CTW, and EB and Blue Lotus will all have my business...Even if it is good BL and RTR will have my business just because the makers have done such fine thoughtful work.

Let me say hi to all as this is my first post (although I've been watching all of your posts for some years now) -guess this is the bitter experience of a 30 year old tw player.
I just want to say that I felt somewhat disappointed by M2TW. I always liked to zoom into my cities and observe the everyday life, something I won't be able to do with M2TW. To be honest I was hoping to get a clear look of an operational city in this game. I was hoping to be able to see mothers hiding their children, priests trying to save the relics of the temples during the battle and many villagers begging for their life. I was hoping to see a real city invasion and all I've got is a RTW atmosphere with better (I admit) graphics of a medieval city. By the way I find it embarassing that the M2TW designers didn't bother to recreate the REAL maps of the major cities.
Hope I wasn't much disturbing...

Well, roman era sure is interesting, but Medieval 2 is a bit like an update in every aspect, nice graphics and other improvements.. but the engine is so similar that I propably won't play Rome for a while. Medieval 1 then is a whole different game to me, so sometimes I could play it just for nostalgy. Compared to M2 it looks horrible (but also kind of stylish), but it's still one of the greatest games ever. So I could still play M2 (and maybe Shogun if I can get it some day). Not Rome, I think I'll keep a short break now. =)
