Default How to get the latest vision of Divide et Impera (DeI)?

    dear every fans

How do I get latest version of dei(1.03)? I am steam version.
I subscribed DEI(1.0) from steam and i see the FAQ say that steam version will automatic update to latest version? does that mean we need wait author upload the latest version of DEI(1.03) on steam, and we need resubscribe or redownload from steam?,or it will automatic update to 1.03 without we do some operation just like if rome2 has new patch and it will auto updated in the steam?

forgive my english i am not native.

yeah it will be updated automatically if you are using steam version as long as you start the game normally with the "Total War Launcher" by CA and not with another mod manager like "Mitchs Mod Manager". you can even see it sometimes if there is a new DeI version when you cant press the "Play-Button"in the normal "Total War Launcher" because one of your mods you were using is currently updating.

in short: the current version on steam is 1.03a as long as you have subscribed all four parts of the mod you are good to go.

Thanks for your support, i have fully four parts and i still have one question is when i open the mod manager i still see the DEI version is 1.0 on the icon of dei (i haven't another mod manager, my mod manager is when i launch the game, there is a mod manager button under play button,i think this is own by steam) so why in my mod manager the icon of dei does still show 1.0 instead of 1.03 since it automatic update?

If you have steam version, then there is no option you won't have the newest update, even if the icon does not suport that.

I would advise to get the standalone version on this forum. You only have to download 500mb instead of the full size when using steam workshop. It is a lot more stable aswell

I'm using the Steam version and got one freeze at turn ending in my current 130 turns campaign. If the standalone is even more stable that might be Voodoo?

it's sad to crash at 130 turns. To download the standalone version is too tough to me ,because in my area net speed is too slow to get on this forum ,i think net speed is restrictd.

What can I say, I download DeI stand alone at +/- 60 kb/s with my mobile telephone.
And I download it each time

Maybe you misunderstand (or I misunderstand you) but having one freeze at the end of only one turn in 130 turns for me is stable enough. After the freeze I closed the program with the task manager and started again. No problem.

I'm a Steam user too, and to begin with I was subscribing to DeI and submods via the Steam Workshop. But over time I came across a number of posts by people recommending using the standalone releases and ModManager to organise things, so that's what I did and I haven't looked back.

The benefits to me have been:

    - It is so much easier to keep track of your mods.
    - You can manage which ones are loaded much more clearly; ensuring that they are loading in the correct order.
    - You can also examine the 'conflicts' through ModManager - I'm not a modder, so it was a bit bewildering at first, but it's proved another useful way to check that your load order is correct based on the conflict lists. which I've found useful.
    - Launching the game through ModManager is much smoother than using the Steam versions through the game launcher... much smoother.
    - I wasn't really experiencing much instability anyway, but I generally get the feeling that the standalone versions are more stable; it also feels like things load faster, too.
    - Using the standalone versions, and managing things through ModManager, also means that you can quickly and easily add 'hotfixes' to your version, which some of the devs periodically make available to improve various things between release versions (for example, I'm using two hotfix packs alongside 1.03a at the moment; I can't even remember what they do, but ModManager allows me to just download and implement them whenever I come across them between release updates... you can't do that as easily, or sometimes even at all, through Steam)

tl;dr = if you can, make the switch from Steam Workshop subscriptions to standalone packs and ModManager (even for a complete noob and non-modder like me it's very easy to use).

Why can't you use hotfixes with the Steam version? The Steam manager reads all mod packs in the R2TW data folder. ATM I'm using a prior DeI fixpack as my personal mod-modding tool (I changed some DeI-files to my liking including several variantmeshdef-changes). Or in what form do the hotfixes come? If it where single files I would simply put it into the DeI packs.

    I'm sure you're right geala.

I suppose what I meant, is a combination of two things.

Firstly, to apply the 'hotfixes' alongside the Steam Workshop subscription packs, means that you're already doing some 'manual' management of mods; i.e. manually downloading them and placing them into your data folder. In my way of thinking, if someone's already willing to do that (like I was for a little while), and use a mixture of subscribed mods and standalone mods, then why not go the whole hog and just go standalone entirely? It's actually much less confusing to manage things then.

Secondly, when managing standalone submods and/or hotfixes alongside DeI/submod Steam subscriptions I was never fully confident that the mod manager in the game launcher was handling them all correctly. Not mention that it's just much, much less clunky and much easier to manage all standalone files using ModManager compared to the game launcher manager.

    That's what I've found, anyway.

Do you use another mod manager or how do you define what's loaded first? Perhaps I'll also try the standalone.

I use this, from these forums:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...dated-25-04-14

    Using it is very simple...

    - Just put your mods into your data folder as you would normally; the manager reads from there.
    - Tick the mods you want to load at launch.
    - Highlight a mod and use the up/down arrows to change the load order (mods at the top overwrite mods below).
    - Make sure your Steam account is open (though ModManager will open it if it's not running, but it's quicker to open it first yourself).
    - Hit launch in ModManager, wait for the game launcher to open, then hit Play (or Continue Campaign) as you would normally.

That's it. Dead simple, and has been competely reliable for me since I started using it.
