I am not sure if this is the best place for this or not....
In previous games, the general was given a radius to "inspire" his troops. However, an important component in any battle was effective command/ communication. I noticed while watching an uploaded human vs human battle that one player took his cavalry and a wide encircling movement to the rear of the opponent. This would be an incredibly difficult thing to do in almost any time period covered by CA/ TW games. Perhaps, as part of the Battle realism component a system can be developed where you need to maintain your units within a certain range or you will lose effective control. In other words, if your units move beyond this range then the AI will take control. The system I envisioned would have an increasing probability to lose control, so you will know when your units slowly become less responsive as they move away. The range can be determine by the "star rating" of the general, therefore, making an experience general more desirable.
An eleaboration on the idea is to tie the system to the individual experiences of the units as well. So a more experience unit would have a more experience commander resulting in better decisions.
