    Default Musketeers

    Musketeers
An improvement on its forerunner, the arquebus, the musket fires a heavier shot and is somewhat safer to use. Like the arquebus, it fires using a matchlock mechanism, a smoldering length of rope, a fuse, that ignites the gunpowder in the pan. The musket is capable of piercing armour and causing morale as well as physical damage.

As far i know, spaniards are the only ones who get this unit.

Arquebuse and Musket are two different things.
Everyone got Arquebusiers, but not Musketeers.

I'm aware of that but I don't think they woudl make one of the big new units faction exclusive. It woudl suck.

Musketeers didn't exist in mtw. nobody got them 8-)

    EDIT: thanks for the screen!

Not like it matters, guns don't frigging work in MTW2.

I hope it's fixed in the patch.

Yeah, thats one thing I'd like to hear from the people who have the game.. In the demo they seem to shoot whenever the hell they feel like it.. Some times they unload on god knows what, then other times I cant get them to shoot ANYTHING... So frustrating.. I thought they were suppost to be a step up from bows...?

take them off guard mode then they don't worry so much about formation and just shoot. Put them in two rank too. They are much better in th gold demo than they are in the first.

Of course.they were largely used in the portuguese armies,at the time;and just out of curiousity,
outside Europe,in Japan, muskets were introduced much earlier in 1543 by Portuguese explorers and by the 1560s were being mass-produced locally.

Agreed, I have a wonderful time with my arquebusiers, although they are certainly not as effective individually as a Zweihander unit or a group of knights. They take only a bit longer to reload than Crossbowmen, but the impact they have on morale is huge. I can usually rout a the peasants on Otumba with a well timed volley (read: near range, but not too close). I like how they've made it so that the first rank fires, the next rank moves forward and fires, and so on. I think they might still be of questionable quality in multiplayer, but I can see how having a concentrated volley of guns on the enemy center, followed by a charge by a shock unit could be very effective in cleaving the opposing force in half.

    Wrong : read again.

I wrote: they were largely used in the portuguese armies,at the time

And after that I wrote : just out of curiosity..,etc,etc.

NB: (They began to be used as early as the late 15th century, and they were primarily designed for use by infantry)
