    Default Completely new (and clueless). Need help on mod idea.

    Hello TWC.

    I'm absolutely new to the modding community as a whole, only just starting today on trying to make my first mod, and I'm hoping to start off by making something personal that I would hope others might enjoy as well.

    I've noticed that a lot of people rejected the new resource-based upgrade/improvements to soldiers that the dev's added in a while back. The solution for most was to just re-add the old way. I don't blame them for doing so, but I was wondering if it might be possible to, instead of dumping the new method, just add a resource to a specific province?

    I've been going through the tutorials and downloaded what I think I need, though I'm not fully aware if there is a tool that I might need other than the Pack File Manager. If I needed a different file tool, I would enjoy a push in the right direction. I couldn't find sight of what I might need.

    But beyond the tools, I also have no idea where to look. There are so many files, and so many things cross-reference each other, and patience is one of my most lacking virtues. I've found references to the resources, their names, regions and provinces alike, but nothing on where they all add up to what I'm looking for. How do I assign a resource to a specific province? Is there a file I should be looking for, to edit or add lines to? Or am I completely missing on how I'm supposed to accomplish this?

    I want to clarify, I'm not asking someone to do this for me. I have a good enough idea of how to accomplish this and what provinces I want to mod (though if someone did want to just do this themselves, they could. I don't declare ownership over this idea.). But help would be greatly appreciated. I've been searching for information on these things for the better part of a couple of hours and I've not seen anyone attempt to mod something similar to this yet. (It also occurred to me that you *can't* add resources to a province. In which case, knowing that would also help- as it would mean I'm chasing a fools errand.)

    I think the only way to assign a resource to a province would be via the seasons mechanic and adding a resource might be a little odd.

    You can however add a resource to builds, which is how the game adds resources or also to possibly some other mechanics which would require testing.

    If you plan to add buildings in any other way that buildings then i'd recommend you watch some of my tutorials (link in my sig). Those of most relevance are

    Campaign Effect Scope

    and possibly the tutorial on season effects to see how the Rome 2 effects come together....

    If you are a real beginner modder though you may want to start from the first tutorials to get acquainted with all the files, tools and terminology.
