    Icon5 Leader ranking (in capital)

When you garrison a leader in your capital the faction gets a bonus. The bonus depends on the rank of the leader.

My leader started as 'Average', and is now 'Superb'. Superb grants a factionwide +5 PO.

Anyway, my question is, how does this ranking system work?

    Thanks

It is based on his traits I believe. Litharion created the script so he could best answer the mechanics.

Ah, quite technical then, and probably well thought out. Thanks for the response.

Actually that's all I really want to know. Knowing too much about mechanics can break the immersion, as I'm sure you're well aware.

So does the leader get levelled up for sitting in the capital? Or is it worth getting him levelled up in battle then sending him back?

I'd like to know this as well. I usually send him out on conquests to aquire personal glory and prestige, maybe it's worth bringing him back to the capital to handle politics?

All generals gain xp when stationed as governors in a city. They gain even more if the public order is good and they build buildings.

The faction leader gives a special bonus when in your capital (either as a statesman or in an army).

I've had my Faction Leader as a General in my Capital for the entire game. I'm 120 turns in and he has gathered 925ish gravitas so far, he has had several promotions.
This being said I've specced him out as a Sovereign and with the Noble Steed perk so he gains allot of gravitas each turn. He generates a nice PO bonus aswell as keeping my faction the ruling one.
Hope this helps at all, which I don't know. Because well, It's late and I'm tired haha

Is their anyway to reduce the number of of negative traits that generals receive from being in cities or at least add some positive ones. I try to devote a number of my generals to be govoners since their PO bonus are very helpful especially in the new version. However it seems like no matter if I put them in one of my home regions or a newly conquered one they gain negative traits. Also quite a few of the traits don't seem to have any real effect that I can find.

Was about to ask the same. My generals gain often bad traits - good and interesting - but description presents just reason and nature of these traits but no effects at all. Are there no effects? Or maybe they're hidden, but working?

And where's the problem? Simply replace him with another guy and you have your faction leader as a statesman or ready to be hired as a new land army...

Where can you find the bonuses your faction leader is giving you?

On the faction summary screen, where you see all your other faction-wide effects (faction traits and things).

In every new DEI v1.xx campaign I've played so far, there have been endless assassination attempts and woundings of my faction leader. I've gotten to the point where I just don't deploy him anymore. He's dead to me. Very annoying.

Yep, if there is anyway to tone these assassination attempts down I think it would help some. It does not provide the AI with any real advantages, it is rather just an annoyance to the player.
Shogun 2, no thanks I will stick with Kingdoms SS.

Every General (!) that is disbanded ends in Rome and his traits both negative and positive add up for The Italy region !
If you disband 10 generals that have 10% taxes and 10% public order traits you will get huge positive PO and insane taxation.
Plus the bonuses of your faction leader ...

Is that bad a "cheat" that one can garrison all cities with 4 full legions and raid (!) Italy with the rest set taxes at max and still have like 30+ PO / turn plus lots of cash ...
    the mechanics are not perfect...imho...
but this is not DeI related.
