    Default Isn't this a problem?

I have heard that you will have government types as religions (Democracy, Tyranny, and Oligarchy). I think that is a fine idea, but if you have a Democracy then the family tree makes no sense, because the point is that you should not have your family member nescessarly as your successor, you would have whomever was elected. How are you going to deal with that if you use this religion system?

Where did you hear that they were going to add governments as religions?

Huh? This sounds like sheer speculation without any factual basis.

Its been announced for ages that religions have been converted to Government types.

You must remember we have to work within the confines of the game you have to have a faction leader that is choson from a ruling family... The Government systems are mostly to make problems in cities e.g. oligarchies conqeroring democracies caused problems historical and so it does in game.

Could any traiter or scripter answer the following questions?

    Ok, here it goes:

***Can Government Type affect the aquisition of certain traits?

    If not:

***Can you script the aquisition of certain traits to the family members, with the conditional of a certain government Type?

    Thanks

If government types have replaced the BI religious system then it would be easy to make traits due to government type. Like the "Christian Conversion" triat in BI, you have to have "Christian" to get it. Doing the same thing would be easy for a government system / religious system. But if you mean along the lines of universal things, like anyone could get something like "benevolent ruler" but if you are Democratic it is easier to get?

The thing is, if the aquisition of certain traits of your family members can be conditioned by the government type, or if you can script the aquisition of a certain trait to your family members with the conditional of the adoption of a government type, you could solve the problem of the incompatibility of hereditary family members with the democracy.

    Condition = Democracy "Religion"
Trait = -100% fertility to all of your FM.

That way, you can force your faction to acquire your FM through adoptions and man of the hour events... not because of hereditary conditions. Your election can be based on the party of the candidate, which could be a trait that could already be present...

So, you can actually could choose which FMs you want, simulating the Democracy... with YOU beign the people (L'État, c'est moi, anyone?)

The only drawback, is that in Democracy the charges are essentially temporal, so you can`t change your leaders once you choose them.

    It`s a workaround...

Could one use the Elected Officials thing like in the original RTW in someway to help with this, so you can have multiple government positions that provides their holders with benefits

Ya, that would be cool. This would let us see who our top guys are and who would make the best 'president'.

No, not president positions in Athens were Assembly (Ecclesia) which was all citizens, 500 Member Boule council with elected representitives from each of the highly artificial tribes, 10 generals called strategio were elected, Many positions were assigned by random lottery such as 9 magistrates called archons, so maybe you could use these types of thing in Roman style election screen at least for Athens.

Interesting to see how that works?

I've been working on using religions for classes, as Aristocratic, Middle and Poor .. but it's on hold until MTWII is released.
