That sounds very angry.. I'm not sure it would be a surprising that the community expresses some level of frustration in response.

when I leave for a month for personal reasons I find this?

Coming back and finding Ditro, Sanny, Connor, Keels, and the rest of the staff and community doing yeoman's work keeping the community alive and thriving under TWC's wing, under difficult circumstances?

I don't recall anything bad said about GED all the time he was gone, or about the previous admins that I saw. Nor was anyone trying to steal players from TWC and siphon them off to other servers, nor saying screw MCC it sucks, nor anything bad at all. It was all positive, constructive, creative, and was a success in keeping the community together and growing.

This appears to be overlooked, for reasons which are hard to understand.

What I don't understand is why this thread is still open. I was expecting reprisals for us even commenting in this thread.

I wouldn't expect that, most of those who have commented did so maturely and respectfully, although I expect Jay and Celoxia to recieve some sort of reprisal due to the ill-intentioned nature and derogatory image they presented in their responses.

This is a sad day, and even though this is sad for my fond memories of twc minecraft, which i must admit i have done more than MCC minecraft i understand that GED did what he did, maybe he does feel hurt, just as all of us are also hurt by his decision. But i guess the only thing to do know is move on and play some more minecraft!

I have not been around for a long time untill I came back 2 days ago, but I do want to point something out.
It is highly unlikely to the point of unbelievable that the admins of mcc couldn't reach GED. When I was the only minecraft moderator online when we were being hacked a long time ago, I managed to contact GED within an hour while he was on a camping trip in the middle of nowhere. GeD is always available for emergency contact (through mail / twc conctact info / other hex staff / phone) and the job of the staff is to contact him if things go wrong.

Sadly, Eol, that was not the case. GED is/was often too busy with other things. He drew back from MCC quite a bit after we got out of the gate, which was only somewhat expected.

Obviously if this was the case none of this would have happened as he would've known about it well in advance, and some of the entirely game-stopping problems that led to where we are now would've been addressed (ie MCC being entirely down for over a month). The only alternative explanation is that the MCC staff was so inactive that they never cared enough to contact GED, despite the assurances that they had.

Either way the end result is the same, necessitating actions being taken by the community to save itself where all staff and GED himself had failed. GED could have just as happily reacquired everything once he returned but instead he'd rather do this, so its clear now we're better off for it in the long run.

I'd really want to hear what the rest of Hex thinks about this, just to know what their thinking. I mean sure they have to go along with what GED decides but surely they think this is a bit (i.e extremely) harsh for alleged drama, supposed violations of the ToS.

I want them to look through all the pvp threads, all the faction recruitment threads, everything so they understand what this community is really like and not what GED likes to misconstrue.

Then you should PM them and ask them for help. A well and meaningful PM can make them look at it, but HEX is busy, and dont have complete overview of the site

For the best snapshot of the community I'd say read the Map 2 thread. It gets a little of North Korea in there towards the end to complete the picture

This is a pity, as I really looked up to you. I am not sure where you are getting these accusations of misconduct and general corruption, however. The new forum was incredibly positive and the server is more fun then ever.

What we have here is a community which cares about its existence and survival. While it can be seen that some of the responses here are hostile and inflammatory, the general consensus is an air of confusion and disappointment at the way the TWC administration (as no one from the administration has vocalize their viewpoints on the matter, I can only conclude that this is a case of the blind leading the blind in this instance, for fear of speaking out and losing their job as a result) has handled the reappropriation of a community server. Essentially, this just looks like an exile of an active part of the TWC community, under a false pretense fabricated by a server owner. This is a poor reflection of TWO'S's founding principles, and I am hopeful that this lapse in judgment and reason will be rectified in the future.

Guys no point in continuing this discussion, we're only making things worse, let's not bring ourselves down to GED's level. Leaving this thread open in the first place was only to provoke us so he could conjure up a proper excuse to get rid of the community. He had his final say, and that's that.

I would agree that taking evidence from a thread such as this is a biased approach. A community that's stayed together for four years, across more than a dozen map restarts, and who have integrated to a point that they interact well beyond Minecraft (my own examples: I play EU4, WoW, and EVE with people I met on MC right now, I have played a half dozen other games with people met here, and I've met three of them in real life) have summarily been told they're a foul group of people unworthy of a home on TWC, and whose mere existence, once discovered, provoked such anger that the one responsible now holds the honour (as I know it) of being the only openly fired Admin on TWC.

You expect these people to react with calm?

I can pick over a dozen different posts in this thread where the attitude is the same, that was the just the most egregious example of it. I don't have to look to hard for examples over the minecraft server to find that same attitude.

I can go to the Rome II subforum and pull up plenty of or whiny posts, Squid, we're just being singled out because we're a smaller group that GED got directly involved with. I'm not overly upset with being kicked from TWC, but GED knows (by knowing me very well) that I want him to answer for his mistakes and figure out that this was not a one way street. He disliked how we acted, but really fails to account for himself adequately. Also, regarding "attitude," do look at Poach's comment below that I quoted and the question he asks at the end.

No one, not even GED is saying your community cannot exist GED is just saying that it isn't going to exist on his servers. As for being the only openly fired member of hex, your being let go was not mentioned in this thread until you called his hiring and firing policies into account.

First of all about the way people have been reacting in this thread, youre right, some people have been acting inappropriately and in ways that violate the ToS. What you seem to keep missing is the people after them that condemn their actions and ask others not to follow in their footsteps. A community is not defined by its most agressive/pissed off member and doing so is just over generalising us all.
Secondly if you have a problem with these people why are they not infracted in accordance with the ToS of twc instead of forcing a larger group of people off the forums as a result of the actions of the few, seems a tad unfair to me. As far as I knkw this is the first time a whole group of people has been forbidden from using twc forums before and it doesn't set a good precedent.
I dont blame GEDfor maybe being pissed at us or being pissed that the money he spent on mcc was wasted, the one time I talked to him he seemed like a nice enough bloked that was trying to improve the server (with the modpack) what I fail to understand is why this is so out of the blue. We all thought he'd be fine with us playing here again, there hadnt been any warning signs that this kind of9f thing would happen.

Also in response to you saying that poach only just now brought up his own firing, some9ne mentioned it on the first page.
