Well I'm sorry if I fail to treat someone with respect who has not shown the same courtesy to me or anyone else in this community.

As a member of this community for almost three years I strongly oppose the closure of the community subforum. Ditronian/et al.'s actions saved a community that was faced death by inactivity brought upon by an extended development time for the server, inactive admins, and ultimately a server crash. I just hope some kind of deal can be made so we can continue playing under the banner of TWC.

I have to say, out of all possible ends to MCC, I never would have expected the former server owner to try and sabotage the community in this manner. Because that's what it's come down to. I've seen more activity from all of these people, both good and bad, than I've seen since I've started at MCC almost 3 years ago, and if I'm perfectly honest, it's actually been progressive activity regardless of whatever nefarious deeds or actions that you seem to think people are doing.

You don't get to waltz in here and start acting like you own us as a community anymore, because you no longer do. You abandoned us when we needed you, and you kept the entire server wrapped up in a nice little cocoon of permissions that you didn't allow anyone access to. Regardless of your intentions, you left MCC to rot, and rather than rejoice in the fact that we've chosen rebirth in the original form, you throw this pathetic temper tantrum because some things didn't go your way. I'm appalled, as is everyone else I'm sure.

You can choose to maintain this ridiculous position, but with or without you, this community will endure somehow. You've shown us that we don't need you to survive, but I think it'd be a hell of a lot more fun if we all didn't have to part on such bad terms. I urge you to reevaluate your position, because after yesterday's public display, I don't think there will be many more chances like this awarded.

It's unfortunate and sad that things have come to a head this way. But since it is GED's site, I reckon he can close it down if he sees fit.

GED think of the forum activity you are going to lose by closing the sub forum. It's not to late to reverse your decision. Although things haven't worked out the best, for both sides. There is still opportunity to salvage the community here and encourage involvement with TWC. Its a win, win for both sides.

For instance, in just a couple of days, Connor93's new Minecraft server has gone from a few players online at once, to reaching almost 30 people active at the same time. I haven't seen these numbers in a very long time. With the TWC by its side we also have a huge player population to draw in (unlike MCC which felt a bit detached). There's also the long term benefits - If the new server is successful some of those players could become new fully participating members here on TWC.

From my experience anti-social behavior is not, never was, encouraged in the Minecraft servers. I think most people here including the GM/Moderators all tried to maintain order and respect between each other. Not everyone is perfect and I don't doubt there were some issues in the past. But this isnt unique to Minecraft or the community here. This happens in many games, no matter where they come from. Anti-social behavior is difficult to control in game as well.

Lastly this:

Couldn't a compromise be made? [Between GED and the Server Admins] Didn't GED understand the issues that were associated with his requirements?

It all sounds like a major break down in communication.

Not sure what your goal has been for MCC? Profit? Reputation? Mod attraction? Either way, when 100 others have only themselves as a community at heart, you're doing something wrong. I can't believe the way in which you've disregarded every post in this thread and just added more of your incredibly bias opinion. You moan about infractions, but that's what mods are there for. If someone 'avoided the f bomb' in the political mudpit, or if a guy in a RTW2 game swore at someone and continued playing, would you close those entire forums down? No. So, I ask again, why close these down? Double standards simply because you didn't understand the circumstances.

I think he's trying to set Total War Center up to be bought by Disney. I mean really? Welcome to the Internet. I think what is more intriguing is that there is a Game of Thrones roleplay forum on this board, so bedding your sister is allowed and playing with lego blocks aren't? Better yet the content of the adverts around the site is something questionable.
Don't think he cares that losing 200 members is that significant out of 200,000+ anyways. It's just sad that one or two individuals step out of line and a whole group get punished for it. I always thought TWC was a democracy not a dictatorship. Well it's been fun guys.

Frankly, the worst thing to ever happen to the community occurred when GED bought out TWC. Someone who is capable or mature enough to lead a community should have earned the site ownership, not bought it. I don't understand how you're all so surprised that a salty man who probably had only twenty years left before heart disease will take him is throwing a temper tantrum when things don't go his way (after he disappears for several months). Shock awe.

I am sorry, but you are wrong. GED earned the ownership, exactly as I did. He paid the exact sum I paid to the previous owner, which was the exact sum that was paid to the original owner. And he did spend an inordinate amount of money, donated equipment and kept this site functional, in a way that the previous owner (that's me) could never do because I am nigh ignorant of the technical aspects of the site.

He earned the ownership because the sale was decided by the whole Hex in consultation with me and the previous owner. TWC can only be sold to persons that have proven their dedication to the site and their adherence to the spirit of this community.

Now, you may not like GED, or me, or TWC but please do not use events of which you are barely aware of, to vent your anger.

Consul Napoleon Bonaparte aka Celoxia has constantly proven to be toxic for our MC community (earning multiple bans). Don't characterize us with his example.

These sorts of posts are what he'd use to characterize us incorrectly. But I suppose teenage angst has to be spewed out in order to finally go away.

It is only when people like Celoxia make posts like that, that I start to at least partially understand why GED did what he did. Seems like he is trying to upload a certain standard on TWC that individuals part of the MC server muddy. Though that could probably be said of every game with TWC hosted forums.

And I share your hope. To his credit, GED only closed the subforum, rather than move or delete it entirely. He's a good guy, despite this rash action, and I'm sure he's still thinking about the issue. What really concerns me is that TWC is so vulnerable to impromptu decisions.

Its sad to have to leave over such a bizarre and out of the blue set of circumstances, but there is little to be said or done in these situations. If GED really had legitimate concerns I feel he should've at least attempted to contact the community before doing all of this, but he made no attempts to figure out the situation. After reading his first set of posts it was painfully clear he didn't even know MCC was offline (and it had been for over a month) when he closed the sub-forum, so I'm not really sure what he could've expected us to do. I guess its our fault for having a strong enough community that we were able to keep it all together and moving even when MCC and the MCC server fell apart, and GED was so unreachable that none of his own personally chosen administrators could reach him.

It's time to see how strong our community really can be, if it ultimately dies just because GED wants to try and make it die with him then I can live with that. There's a lot of people that have put a lot of work into keeping this community afloat over the years, but few have ever tried so hard to sink it.
