Default Slave Revolts Every Other Turn since 1.3 (solved)

And it's not always just one revolt, it tends to be 3 revolts in different places. I don't understand why but public order drops drastically within a turn for no reason, even Roma my capital has joined in on the revolts. Got 3 high level governers in different provinces, got the temples and culture buildings, set my tax to lowest possible, got tons of food, sell slaves when they get too many, got a slave trader, yet the revolts dont stop. I don't get why? Playing H/N as Rome

Not sure if this occurs as slave "slave revolt" but as Rome you have to keep the balance of power between the different families , if you gain too much senate influence with your main family you get more probabilities to get civil war. didn t play as Rome already , maybe someone could enlight you about this .

If PO is dropping drastically and is not reflected in the UI, it is due to a docked fleet or army.

What difficulty are you playing on?

Also slave markets reduce slave population decline. The edict increases the population decline.

I just had a look into the data to figure out how to decrease public order punishment from slaves. Unfortunately i was unsuccessful, i just didnt find anything. Could someone please guide me to where i have to look for that?

There's no docked fleets or armies. I think the game just hates me

I kind of face the same issue ... my Slave population exploded although I haven't captured that many of them over the 10 years of the campaign (usually the last rags of a crushed enemy). The Public order is indeed heading south gradually since.

In order to better fight this issue I have a few questions:

When taking slaves do they increase in your whole empire or simply in one region?

When taking slaves do they grow over time (having kids etc...)?

When revolting does the slave population decreases after beating them in battle ?

Edit: Does looting cities before capturing increase slave population?

Your whole empire, not unless you use the commercial stimulation edict, I'm not sure but I don't think so, and YES. Looting cities takes the captives as slaves, while sacking a city kills the captives.

sry, this just made my day

...anyway, playing on VH/N i just have constant little revolts in cities where i donīt own the whole provinces, even if the own culture is above 70% .... well the red numbers go down if there is peace for a while...even then all provinces getting better, which makes sense to me

i just wonder, if you fight with an garrisonarmy of the enemy, they mostly have silver chevrons already but my little city garrison which killed the revolts in selfdefence for the 20th time donīt get any experience... probably a feature

anyway, all of this is easy to handle

PS i love this mod, in case i didnīt mentioned it yet

I did loot 2 villages and 1 town over time. I guess this is the reason of my current troubles. Brilliant ! Thanks for answering.

does your families influence play a part in slave revolts? I ask as I just seen my family has a really low percent compared to the others so i had to start killing and undermining the other families it's that bad. maybe that's why my public order sucks so bad?

edit: im aware it plays a part in civil wars but slave revolts and public order?

For me PO was difficulty only in first 10 turns, rest of the game is easy to manage without going for super skills stacking and other min/maxing.

    Good night.

My one and only "slave terror" was in Magna Greacia in a VH campaign.
South of Cosentia, a bunch of peasant silver units with an Italian spear as leader grew up to a full size army in some turns due to my inability to react. Being busy with the last stubborn Syracusans exchanging Lyibaeum and Syracuze self for some turns now; me wining slightly ...
In desperation I sent 1 demi- Legion of 1 gen, 2 Socii extr. Cav, 3 hastatii and 2 ascesii.
I attacked... shaking at my keyboard envisioning my disaster.

To my amazement it was a walk in the park.

had some 800 something in total (large unit size) and those "slaves" had over 5000.
    None escaped... I lost 9 ( nine !) soldiers
all my troopers were recruits before now at minimum 3 bronze chevrons .
    Love the slave revolts.

Latter in Lylibaeum, had a full 20 pack slave revolt of Carthaginians ranged units. My now more than at half strength Legion went through them like through butter?

FWIW I had a slave revolt in Corsica, crushed it, had one two turns later in Corsica. No army or fleet in region, no edict, no slave market. DeI 1.03.

Well, slave revolts should be easy battles. If slaves were able to actually fight back every few years in force, no nation employing slaves could stand for long. There were only few revolts in roman history that were threatening, one of them led by spartacus and a load of trained fighters. The most threatening thing about slave-revolts is that they're a rampaging mob looting your province and pulling forces from the front to deal with them, but they will probably never actually achieve anything.

Wondering whether the problem with PO and Slave revolts is tied to what you do with the captives after crushing either? I released my prisoners after the second slave revolt and got a massive PO boost.

slaves become an issue if you are too LOOTING-HAPPY. I am
however, i always let them rebel and crush them in 3-4 turns. For those turns I simply keep my army garrisoned in a city nearby (free xp and lower maintenance); revolt compensates PO.

I usually get to this situation after a large war. I amass a war chest and raze enemy cities in the begining. When I am about to capture the last 3 (and no other wars looming), I sack them and then loot them (then raze and rebuild). This results in a large econo boost both immediate (cash) and mid term (slave boost empire-wide).
However, with the non-elite slaves even my half-disbanded armies are able to easily deal with the slave threat while i build up new provinces and prepare for the next expansion step.

In the begining (when I am small) I raze cities if I have cash or sack and occupy, if I do not. early game PO problems could seriously cripple you.
