I have a 2.66 ghrz CPU, its good thank god, but i want to know which settings are cpu-based in RTW/M2TW's video settings..shadows?
Thanks!

Alot. The killings, unit movement, the most basically
Most of all: The amount of troops. I can run the demo smoothly with 3 or 4 thousand men, but once I added there 8,000, all purely unscripted and under AI control.. No way to play it, even on low settings fps was 1-2. So, cpu matter if you want lots of units and troops. Most of those video settings require gpu power, not cpu. If that processor of yours is Celeron, it will be really bad, if it's P4, it will be pretty fine with fewer troops. I doubt it's an Athlon.

It's in my sig. I'm using 2XAA and not really any AF, I think it's pretty unnoticeable in this. I'm running the demo with following settings, if I remember correctly:Originally Posted by avesta
Shader model 2, bloom and reflections, high unit detail. Effects, textures, grass and buldings on high. Shadows disabled. Resolution 1152*864.
But it's a demo, don't know about full version then...

U need a good proccesor and good graphic card to play the game perfect

number of troops. Collision detection and pathfinding cost most CPU time.
Ah, a 2.66GHz? Its not as simple as that, is it a pentium/Athlon/Celeron/Sempron/Core 2? A 2.66GHz Pentium isnt that good, but a 2.66GHz Athlon of Core 2 will be far better.Originally Posted by killerxguy

Will my cpu be able to handle the huge unit setting in M2TW? This is my only concern of the game. I had no problems whatsoever handling huge units in RTW/BI. First thing I'm going to do after I install the game is test my PC with a huge custom battle.
Well, your processor will be the only problem, since my vc and amount of RAM is the same. I would say medium with more than 24fps for the fact that the P4 is kinda old. I know you and I checked our drivers to see what would work performance wise. Now we just need the game. Try putting the settings in the demo on low everything to see what you get. Max more me yields 16fps with all men on Agincourt and 85 fps same battle on low everything. So if you get the same range, I can safely say that medium settings will be good for you.Originally Posted by Trajan

You mean with medium video settings, I will be able to play with the huge unit setting? Well, when I get the game, I'm going to do some tweaking around and see if I can keep most of my maxed out video settings. Awhile ago, I tried this one custom battle mod for the demo where there were four armies on the field and I had minimal lag. As long as the fps stays at 15 and above, I'm cool. I know that the full game handles big battles way better than the demo so I'm feeling confident. I also always play my performance intense games after a clean boot so that also adds a few more fps.Originally Posted by AlfonsoVIII
AlfonsoVIII, you remember that little discussion on the Nvidia game profile settings for M2TW, I was reading TweakGuides guide to the Nvidia Forceware CP and the author said that he recommends setting Trilinear optimization, Anisotropic mip filter opt, and Anisotropic sample opt to on. He said that there will be a slight image quality decrease but the performance boost will come in handy. So when I get the game, I'm going to have to do a lot testing to find out what's best for me.
Yeah I remember, I will wait until I get the game and see the difference between demo and full version before I mess with any of my settings in the driver. Let me know what you come up with.Originally Posted by Trajan

The cpu is what is most important with the RTW engine for sheer # of units. All those little guys hacking away at each other takes up a lot of cycles. The gpu just makes those little guys LOOK better. It's a bit of a balancing act, really. You can have LOTS of troops on screen, but it won't look that good, or run really slow because the gpu has to render the artwork for all those little guys. OR you can reduce the number of troops and turn up the eye candy.
Experiment and find something that you can be happy with!

Before you post, see if your question has already been answered here
Yeah, there's going to be a lot of experimenting before I settle down for a campaign.![]()
Yeah, and testing of FPS on different hardware etc.
I was under the impression that unit numbers where a ram job.
So what kind of processor do you have?Originally Posted by killerxguy

I always knew that the CPU was part of it but I also thought that the amount of RAM also played a big part. With RTW, I saw a big difference in huge battles when I upgraded my PC from 1GB to 2GB.
I think the CPU will be the key component for the game. It will affect number of men on the battlefield, unit size, AI decisions on the battlefield, pathfinding and movement, collision detection. The GPU will mainly make these things look good.
My processor is Pentium4 2.66GHz
