Default United Church ads .. What do you think

These are some adds for the United church in Canada.... an effort to get more people to come out to church.

I love them all but especially those of the Bubble Headed Jesus and the one about the literal/unliteral Bible.
If I were to be join a Christian church again this would be the church for me!

"Thats right, send me all the children, Mwha ha ha ha ha..."

But seriously, the Christian poster Ad campaigns only serve to make me laugh. You cant encompass an entire message of peace and love with a catchy slogan.

Moreover its quite an insult to see christianity selling itself out on the same market as Big Macs and Media.

what is the problem with that? Both of them are advertising for the same thing, the choice of a person. McDonalds advertises to try to make people choose big-macs over tacos, and the church to try to make people choose their church over catholicism or other churches.

well at least they're finally admitting that they're a business cloaked in dogma.

"they're" is a stereotype. Don't take this as bashing, I agree with you that there is a lot of corrupt christianity. However I can tell you that "christianity" is very diverse and should not be summed up in one category.

Suitably ominous. Seems like they're creating anti-religious propaganda, if anything.

Personally I think they're doing a good job at satirizing and degrading their own faith. Still, it sums up the target audience - infantile, a trait that is increasingly not exclusive to infants. Confusing Jesus and Santa Claus is the way to go in order to captivate the public's attention I guess.

All excellent replies.. rez My take on the adds ( and I am areligious myself ) is that religion can use any of the facets of the culture it exists in ... Is Christian Rock music any less acceptable than music of 200 300 400 years ago ( and if so why )? Slogans are by their very nature short and pithy and meant to stand for larger more fully encompasing ideas.

Idwayreth yes I agree there is much more that should have been done with this money.

I Have a Clever Name .. never thought of it like that ... I saw in the adds an ability of a church to at least ask hard questions about what it espouses... and that to me is a good thng. Apply those pix's to other Christian religions though and yes I see your point.
