Default could we bring back the ability to have more than one family member in a single army?

Now that we have the Family tree back, it leaves the door open for us to be able to roleplay again, which was lacking in rome 2 because all the generals were cardboard cutouts and didn't have any real character. One of my favorite things to do back in the day was to have a father-son relationship akin to Phillip and Alexander. So for a while I'd have both of them in the same army, and let the son get some experience under the wing of his father.

Now what I'm not advocating back is the kill both FL and FH in the same battle and the faction gets wiped out. I think we can all agree that was unrealistic.

but it would be nice to have FMs in a single army again, and perhaps this could even keep generals from rebelling, if say there is someone watching him over his shoulder.

is it high on the list of priorities? no. but it was nice to have that option. unfortunately the ai... that seems to be the kicker when it comes to a lot of good features.

It was said that you can put one of your general as a "tutor" to one other, and it seems that the pupil will integrate the army of his tutor. Check the last video on the family tree, I saw it in one of them.

Yep that's another feature that needs to be reintegrated into the game.

@ Nelfe, does that mean that the retainer will actually be on the battlefield or just a part of the commanders "traits"?

Just started Shogun 2 and almost immediately lost my General boss and his son who were in the same army. Immediately I felt their loss. I knew who they were from first checking the Family screen (which i always do). I had intended for that pair to go far. I had 3 sons left but all too young to fight. The wife had to take over temporary leadership.

Now that in itself was enough to immerse me and could easily be written up as an interesting AAR.

This cannot happen in Rome 2 EE.

On a slightly separate point, wow, this game is so much better than R2. Right from the start, it`s clear, crisp, immersive. Going into battles is easy and you can just concentrate on your strategy and tactics. You don`t feel like you`re fighting the game itself. Even warscape feels good with this. I don`t understand how R2 (made presumably by the same people) is so awful compared.

I dunno, I hope he will be on the battlefield alongside his tutor for we can kill him.

I think it was said that if the commander was assassinated or wounded, the retainer couldnt take his place in case of battles still, this being a problem. If I didnt misread that information somewhere in TWC Attila, it must certainly mean the retainer isnt a unit on the battlefield.
Maybe Nelfe or other more informed persons will answer you.

This sounds like the S2 principle. After losing all my Generals in that, the wife became the Retainer, but cannot join battles. Her role is to prevent the Nation from falling apart until the son can take over.
