If i want to update an older version of a mod with a new version of that same mod would it overwrite the old data if i just dump it into the older version?

If the two mods have the same name then it will ask you if you want to overwrite

I only ask this because i am doing a submod collection , do they need to have the same Title name to overwrite?

I believe so. If you have an old version of your submod and then create a new one that is updated just give them the same name and overwrite. Or you could just make the changes in the old submod and save those changes.
