    The best and most useful preview would be a beta so we can avoid another Empire/Rome 2.

    My thoughts on the previews:

    * The double stacked UI in battles seems to be gone. Replaced by an extra long single row.
    * Three Total War titles in the same year? Not sure what to think of that.
    * If the Attila multiplayer is barebones I'm not going to look favorably on Arena.
    * It looks like there's still only one status at a time displayed on the unit cards. I really don't understand this. There's plenty of space to display all the unit statuses at once without the blinking madness. Correct me if I'm wrong.
    * I see no Guard Mode button on the UI.
    * I don't like the big squares above the units in battles. It looks arcade-y. It looks like it belongs in Arena. I'd rather see a square faction emblem above them like in Napoleon. I don't like the circle icons above units on the campaign map either.
    * It sounds like the pop up events still are still random and have little context.
    * No mention of agent videos or city view.
    * Not seeing any real population numbers. Just 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc growth.
    * The faction selection screen looks really great. Love the faction leader character models.
    * Day One DLC is a disgusting practice. Please stop.
    * Seeing literally zero new diplomatic options other than arrange marriage. Extremely disappointed if that's the case.
    * The character portraits need better backgrounds.
    * The three autoresolve options are still there, but now it doesn't give you any estimate. So now the player is just guessing. That's just bad game design. Just remove those three options and make it one.
    * The post battle statistics still looks barebones.
    * The post settlement capture options looks good. Lots of options. At least for the Saxons.
    * The advisor seems to be exactly the same for all factions. Same portrait. Same voice.
    * You can zoom out much further on the campaign map.
    * The UI seems to be the same for every faction.
    * Forced March is still in the game. I don't know why considering the AI doesn't know how to handle it.
    * Authority, Cunning, and Zeal need to be removed and replaced with something that makes more sense and is less abstract.
    * Didn't see any way to build roads.
    * Religion doesn't seem to be fleshed out. Looks like it just replaced Culture.
    * It looks like all or most units have loose formation.
    * General speeches still seem to a short afterthought and possibly still interrupted by the advisor.
    * In battles I hear the same horns I hear in Rome 2 battles. I wish those were different.
    * Equipping items for buffs makes no sense in a Total War game.
    * Army emblems look copy pasted from Rome 2. Just remove them.
    * Integrity should be renamed Morale since morale seems to be the only factor in it.
    * Event Feed is a weird name to use. Not very immersive. Should be called Chronicle or Histories or something. It would be a lot cooler if it selected important events and presented them as a history of your character and faction.
    * I would like the option to always display projectile range when I have a unit selected like in previous games. Instead of just only when the cursor is on the unit.
    * It seems harder to skip bad weather to get good weather. This is great in my opinion as it makes weather a relevant mechanic and adds to the grim atmosphere.
    * A lot of what I've read and watched reinforces my belief that this game and all future Total War games needs a beta. CA needs to get with the times. After Empire and Rome 2 I can't believe they haven't realized this yet.

    Any news on a playable demo before release?

    After Rome 2 I can't trust that Attila will be any different.

    Instead of giving us a playable demo to see if the game is not like Frankensteain 2,you're showing us those reviews? Remember when Activision paid the reviewers to give a good score for Call of Duty?

    Darren yes, he's a good reviewer..i don't really understand why they won't release at least a lil' demo.

    Thanks for the abundance of previews. I can't help but to feel this is what Rome II should of been, almost looks alike. ^ I noticed Nobatia has an 'eastern' faction leader rather than 'Ethiopian' during the faction previews, which is an error.

    Names are in the most part copy-pasted from R2, so there are more inaccuracies, like the faction leader of Makkran, for example.

    Looks like a massive step up from Rome 2, artistically and functionally.

    Still gutted about unit sizes but I'm sure that'll be easy to change - Right?

    Also love the new objective "survive" lol

    What I want to know is:

    Is region gifting only going to be possible with a faction that you are war with? If so, why the hell can't you offer regions as part of a peace deal instead of just giving it away and hoping the AI doesn't act like it always does and refuses to accept peace. Seems like a completely retarded way of incorporating a region swapping feature into the game.

    DarrenTW description is the best i think and CA has to listen to his advice definitely. One and the most impotent thing it to get back the banners for the units, because with that arrows it is almost impossible to distinguish the warriors which are in your side or the warriors that are on enemies side.

    Also more historical accurate picture for the minor fictions, especially about the family member's name and about the faction leader as well.

    Also I do not understand why nomadic tribes and great migrators culture packs are separated. Those great migrators were the nomads, did not they?

    And the capture of watch tower is not works well i think, then u capture it, it is still shooting the arrows which is very strange.


    Role of religion has to be more distinguished. We were said that we can change the religions and there are the priests, but nothing is said whose priests they are. will we have different kind of priest
    for Christians, Zoroastrians, Manicheans, Arians and for the other religions or are they all the same, with the same outfit. So much remains to be corrected and revealed.

    The Alans were much more 'nomadic.' in culture than the other horde factions, but there's a major difference between semi-sedentary Germanic factions like the Goths and the others, and what the Huns attempted to do. The Alans are the only non-Germanic ones. All of them settled at one point and were one of the basis for Italy and Spain as we known them. I like the distinction. I don't know about indistinguishable but I hope there's a toggle for old style banners. This is looking pretty good. I'm loving the Shogun style leader avatars. PoM, Darren and the others wouldn't lead us wrong.

    Seems that CA has been listening to a lot of complaints/reviews of R2 over the past year or so and implemented these new features into Attila. Personally I'm ecstatic about it because I love the Migration period, but fans of the Roman Republican/Hellenistic Period must be feeling pretty shafted.

    I love the new UI and how the construction queue reminds me more of Shogun 2 than it does Rome 2. The return of "real" unit cards is very welcome and the family tree feature appears to be the most interactive of any previous TW game. One thing I do not like is that every cultural group seems to have the same adviser. I'd much rather see each cultural group get a unique looking adviser for added immersion.

    On a different note, I find it very wise for CA to have Mr. Lionheart show us gameplay from four diverse factions (Saxons, Ostrogoths, Sassanids, and Romans). I have the impression that for Rome 2, CA put a very strong effort into creating the Roman and Carthaginian factions and creating the Siege of Carthage preview. Those two factions have a level of detail that other factions simply do not possess. My guess is that time restraints/deadlines forced them to cut a lot of intended content for the game (like the unique menu that Mr. Epic so kindly showed). With that in mind, I am glad to see four distinctive cultural groups/play styles being showcased. It gives me confidence that while Attila looks/plays like Rome 2 with a fresh coat of paint over it, CA seems to have put a serious effort into making this game more immersive and interesting based off of player feedback.
