Icon5 What do you do when you get bored of a campaign?

Playing as Rhun on H/H and while they are very powerful that the dwarfs is near gone now along with dale and i've over 26 regions i'm starting to get bored with them.

The problem is that when i leave a campaign for some time to take a break i tend to lose interest and begins a new one then become very powerful then i lose interest again.

Do you guys leave unfinished campaigns too?

I never understood those people that conquer half of the map and keep going until the end. It seems like the most boring uneventful thing you can do.

I very rarely play past turn 200. In fact I did it like once or twice in my Mediveal 2 career. In fact when I defeat my main neighbouring enemy I just quit, and thats about 100 turns in game. But I kinda lost interest in playing, I haven't played like for two months :/

Usually I play about 100 turns and then lose interest in the campagin and start a new one. I somehow get bored by the neverending repeating battles against endless stacks coming from the enemy.

Worst thing is that this way I cant enjoy the good units and constantly play with militias.... Gonna need to make growth more fast...

Thank god that i'm not the only one

Now i can start a new one.
I feel that this is something that they have fixed nicely in shogun 2 with the realm divide which kept me on the edge of my seat because there was a constant threat even after you became powerful.

But nothing beats Medieval 2 with it's mods.

when i get bored with a campaign i normally mod the game to make it harder and play the same faction again, I am currently playing the silvan elves but I have reduced the cost of orc faction units and doubled the cost of elven units whilst keeping the human factions the same price, This is allowing evil factions to sweep the board while I am struggling to build an empire. I am currently on turn 200 and the game is still in the balance, am loving it as its been like this since the word go.

Yeah I end because of the stack spams and constant same battles. I wish theyd make the troops more costly so there would be less but more important battles

This! Its not really funny to fight against stack every 4 turns or so. It gets boring quite fast. I would rather fight one army every 20 turns, but the battle should be great.

I remember already in 2006/2007 when I got bored of med2 campaigns, and I remember the main reason was no matter how far you go in the campaign map, settlements would be always the same.

Thats why I started modding. Now our campaign map is full of surprises...

Most campaigns I fulfill the short campaign requirements and try to leave the world in a balanced state (in other words make sure Gondor isn't getting rolled). If I am a Northern Faction and have my territory won in the range of turn 100-150, then often I will go make sure Gondor is still holding the river then retire the campaign. Once I assaulted Mordor/Harad by massive sea invasion to Umbar with all elite High Elven Eldar units after I had already won the North.

Also, I always enjoy conquering Moria as a special challenge map due to the Balrog. I have similarly modified the garrison scripts for Barad Dur to include multiple Olog Hai as a special "challenge map" for an endgame army.

I play tatw for over 3 years and i have only fulfil the victory conditions once while playing as eriador .Usually my campaigns end at turn 100 .When i play as evil factions my campaigns may last a bit longer since i enjoy backstabbing mordor (sataricon i advise you to do the same).
As others have already say my campaigns don't end due to lack of motivation but due to the stack spam

    (i) Change game, Total Wars are just so goddamn simple compared to Paradox grand strategy games. I still enjoy modded Total War, as TW and Paradox Interactive`s games are pretty much exact opposites of each others.

Yes...i faced this before and every time with dale where they just keep throwing stacks with only 3 or 4 units max and clutter the region with.
Mind you they are all low tier units but still if i auto resolve i run the risk of loosing too many men and reinforcements is way back.

Yah this can become really annoying after a while
And come to think of it after my last Play through with Rhun i was really tired after finishing off Dale and crippling the dwarfs.

By the way what is endless stacks?
i've seen that term being thrown here but i don't know what it means.

And wouldn't backstabbing mordor make the dark lord angry?

A full stack is one full army. So "endless stacks" means when the AI produces many large armies continuously. Many players would prefer fewer, more decisive battles than fending off a constant stream of midsize armies.

Mighty, mighty Harad. (I have seen something like this when I played Eriador and all of gondor was captured by mordor...and there were about 15 stacks of orcs and also trolls...no way to defeat something like that).

Stack fighting is something I mostly experience playing Dale - Its a constant struggle with Rhun. Every few turns, there is a new full stack of warriors you have to defeat. You defeat them and before you can even reinforce your army, there is another full stack of Rhun army. So you do your best and defeat them...and few turns later there is another one...and again, and again, and again...gets boring really fast.
