Im playing England, and decided to show the Scots the finer points of empire building. My "northern army" (gives me associations to Braveheart, hehe), an almost full stack of a combination of Mailed Knights, levy spearmen and longbowmen led by Prince Henry lay siege to Edinburgh, where the Scottish king is located, along with a few Highlander units. The siege goes on, and on the last turn before automatic surrender, the King sallies forth, and has also gotten outside help from a previously hidden stack of Scots (3 generals and 6 - 7 units). In a very bloody battle, i defeat the lot of them, and take a large number of prisoners, including the king.
I am then presented with 3 options. Ransom, release, and execute. I select Ransom as the Scottish king alone is worth 13000 gold (16k alltogether). The Scots say "sorry mate, cannot afford that", so i automatically execute the lot of them. Then the Scottish turn stalls.. just sits there forever. I guess this is because i've killed all their nobility *shrugs*
I'll also add that Crusading armies are a pain (to say the least). They are subject to all the "penalties" of normal armies, IE, autostop with 0 movement if they run into anything and so on. This usually forces detours (and with desertion, things can very quickly get frustrating)![]()
