    Default Roman Public unrest watchout

I think I can confirm this and u can see it from the screenshots

Above 60% of influence in the senate makes up pick up the tyrant trait which gives u a -10 penalty in public order.
Thatīs only in the 60% range maybe as u go above 70% that could get really.................ugly.

The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his.

Why don't you just balance out the influence in the senate? I only tend to use one of my generals at a time. I also use generals from other families to take down large armies, that or give other generals the political animal trait.

I know how to balance things what happened was that I played a previous campaign and I have been talking to Dresden because in the first campaign I got to have -21 in the faction value and we didnt know why it showed up and if it was a bug and some people are having problems with public unrest and could be because of this. We tend to promote generals when we have a chance and get the most out of every dilemma but I guess that sometimes it helps to bring down the influence in the senate by choosing the wrong thing.

You can confirm how the senate works and that it matters to micro-manage your gravitas and make sure the other houses get their share of the glory to keep everyone happy, making the politics actually matter? Uhm, yes. Good find!

I went the old route early in my campaign and wasted a few level-ups on the usual night fighter and such on my faction leader before I realized he will never see the frontlines ever again. It's time to find a nice little skirmish and get him slain.

But overall, just keep your influence between 40 and 49% and you're in a good spot. It even gets easier as you go along since everyone will have many hundred of gravitas due to how every base skill increases gravits, plus retainers.

My favorite retainer so far is actually the one Evil mother-in-law or whatever it's called, granting a -5 gravitas per turn. Quite excellent tool to slap on your most highly decorated general to keep them from spiraling out of control and still let them level up in battle.

I always keep my share of the senate reasonable by giving each family a legion or two (eg/ Legio Julia IV) and each get a region to conquer - eg. africa / gaul / greece

That way almost all families have members who have had triumphs and my influence hovers around 40% (I give my family the juiciest place to invade of course )

Also I feel this way of playing adds to the immersion as the other families feel more like "contenders" and not just a nuisance. My favourite general at the moment is from another family :S
