Sabaen Nobles, the best archers + spearmen. In that sabaen campaign i have no interest in getting pure archer units, there simply is no need for them. (for me) A nice faction, a great counter to nomads im sure.

I did not know this. I thought they were a poor investment, and did one of the slowest, most frustrating campaigns as Saba using just the spear militia and base archers. At 150 turns I was only in charge of two settlements in Arabia felix, and Aethiopia.

So true: when I get enough money on my ongoing campaign I will try to have enough Sabaen Nobles to occupy a good part of the frontlines. Their high armour makes them highly impervious to other ranged, while they themselves can kill lightly armoured ranged from a distance, and hold off against melees when they charge.

While working on the missiles for 1.0 i had a multiplayer battle with a friend in which I went Parthia. Unbeknownst to him, Parthian horse archers were not meaningless and my army of most cavalry With a few token infantry obliterated his suebi force of mostly infantry. It felt so good to be able to harass his men with horse archers , draw them out away from his other units, and obliterate them with cataphracts. It was great to be able to use what felt like proper Parthian tactics
