    Default Armenian Roster and Reforms

    Hi, guys.

Armenia has two reforms: Thureos (turn 60) and Thorax (turn 140), right? Armenian Thueros Spears should come with first, Armenian Thorax Swordsmen with second. When comes the Armenian Legionaries and the Armenian Legionary Spearmen?

I have noticed that before reforms, Armenia don't have any armored melee unit (armor 25+), but their heavy archers have armor 45 and melee stats almost as good as Georgian Swordsmen (best sword unit we can have before Armenian Legionaries comes). It is supposed to be a hybrid unit, capable of both ranged and melee combat, the best we can have until reform comes?

In comparison, Parthia, for example, have Parthian Men-at-Arms and Persian Hoplites with armor 55 without any reform. Alas, Parthia seems to excel in everything from beginning: heavy sword and spear units (Parthian Men-at-Arms and Persian Hoplites), best foot archers in the game (Elite Persian Archers), best (hybrid!) horse archers in the game, best shock cavalry in the game (cataphracts!).

    Thanks!

When I played as Hayasdan I got armenian Thureohporoi and Phalangites in the first reform. I didnt continue the campaign much after that but since they werent in the first the Armenian legionary units must be in the second reform.

Yeah Imitation legionaries are in the latest reforms (Thorax), same with hellenic factions.

Also Armenia wasn't famous for skilled swords men so you will have to make do with AOR troops or use different tactics.

Sure. I think I could make a good combination after the first reform: good hoplites and pikemen as frontline, good hybrid spear/javelin unit (thueros spears) at wings (counter-cavalry, anti-armor and/or flank), good hybrid bow/sword unit (heavy archers) as support (to start from distance, flank, and/or support the frontline if needed), good light cavalry to harass and get enemy missiles, and good shock cavalry to crush them all! Really like it!
