    Default Getting my butt kicked!

Wow. The game feels a lot grittier than it ever has before! Extremely tough! Loving it! Thank you team for this new experience, going to take a while to work out how best to use my units again

    Edit:
Just did my first town defense, the static emplacements are fantastic

Yes the difficulty is significantly higher in 1.0. Hopefully this doesn't turn off new players, but one of the desires of the mod has always been to add challenge for the player.

Also difficulty levels are pretty important now.

Yes, differences between normal and hard campaign are huge So yes, if you want hard campaign you pick hard, not like before when hard/vh was working as normal difficulty

Imporant thing is to learn to slow down and really think on your decisions like "Do I REALLY need to attack this faction/town"

Hehe you can say that again. I restarted my campaign and chose Julia / Hard instead of Junia / Very Hard. Was just too much, my expansion came too quickly and I crumbled. Loving it. Seriously guys, thankyou THANKYOU THANKYOU!

Haha just started the latter, we will see how it goes. May need to back out. Cav units are uber expensive, I like it. . Only problem I have is that factions are still getting steam rolled a bit. Sparta beat Eprius, then aridei killed Sparta. Meanwhile the insubres took destroyed the two other tribes around them. This is gonna be tough! Although I'm wondering if it will be possible to field many armies later game. Will their even be enough potential income to field many armies? Rome was known for its manpower. I guess we will see.

Well, people were always unhappy about mid-late game and that they could have 40-80k of income per turn ;D Let's see how it goes now

Bye bye to the times of "lets attack and see how it goes"

Good point, I usually don't get there haha, so I'm not used to that much income. I guess I usually stop playing once things start getting easy...guess I should try to play all the way through.

I've been testing the Lusitani, and under the new system the most I've ever got is something like ~3000/turn in mid- to late-game. There's no running around with doomstacks full of elite units anymore.

That was the intention. And mid-late-game elite spam and money flooding was a big issue, that cancelled many campaigns even on Legendary - they just got too easy, and not interesting anymore. Awesome to see that people like these new changes!

*Nods to KAM* The Conservatives almost won, but not this day. Not this day, shieldbrother! I have a beer and raise a toast on these!

Anyone else finding the saba pretty hard? almost for no reason? I am playing normal, i had one famine, 2 plagues, a fire in my 1 and only city and 4 back to back slave revolts which is weird because i didnt even take any slaves. Immediatly that faction south of me declares war and then muscat joins in. Its really hard to assault cities with them since their units are equal to the default garrison a city spawns. When I was a defending a city against an enemy army. The enemy general by himself routed my whole default garrison army despite me surrounding him and peppering him a bit with flaming arrows. I was doing pretty well destroyed the faction south of me defeated some slaves and had some strategic manuvering with muscat around my capital to back off. However then one of the northern arabian factions joined the fight as well as the eithopians. I then made a beeline for muscat and took the city while the muscat army was sieging mine and made them my client state, this forced northern hagar faction to make peace with me. However then another slave revolt happened and the slaves took my southern city.

That is really odd they get targetted with events like that. They aren't playable in vanilla so it could be something odd there.

Also feeling the pressure on VH. Might restart on a H campaign just to get used to the new mechanics - this is a welcome change, as its been a while since R2 was really challenging w/o resorting to cheapness.

Campaign is moving along, though after a good 26 Turns I have only captured one settlement, from the Venetti. I have declared on the Insubres and had several fights with them, always coming out on top, though costly at times, and I am now poised to seize their lands.

    Junii campaign VH/N, turn ~25
Captured 2 settlements with surprise attacks - Patavium and Mediolanum.
Have been having HUGE PO issues for the the last 10 turns.

Felt immediately I had to take it easy, did 2 surprise attacks on barbs and spent the rest of the time building and forging NAPs and trade agreements.
Syracuse kicked Carthage out of sicily, so, I will declare on syracuse next turn.

Have been keeping my armies small after the clashes with veneti and insubri.
Played a few battles, the one thing i noticed is the HUGE difference between elite and common troops - when recapturing patavium veneti rebels had a veteran general unit. HE kicked my whole garrison. One unit.

Generally, i felt forced to keep my armies small and my empire peaceful. Maybe i will reach the endgame techs with this speed. And PO, omg, huge issues; client states will start making sense now, won't they?

All in all - SUPERBLY DONE!
    Thanks DEI team.

For reference, first thing I have noticed in Rome campaign is that immediately blitzing does not seem to be as effective...better to slowly develop some infrastructure, then blast off.

playing as Parthia in Imperator Augustus is easy at the beginning took out Armenia, Cappadocia, Galatia no problem then tried to take on an experience legion of Mark Antony and got destroyed. I tried to use a mix of Median cav and only a few cataphracts since they are so expensive now and flank them but the legionaires spread out in groups of 2 it seems and overpowered my weaker infantry and surrounded my cav.

The campaign is so much harder now. As Rome I am really struggling with trying to decide to take Sicily from Carthage since I don't think I can go head to head with them for an extended war. Also PO is a lot more difficult now it took forever to get my 2 starting territories in manga Garcia under control.
