Default The "I found stuff in the imperial campaign" thread

Was having a look through the imperial_campaign file that repman put up (Thx btw ).
I hope you dont mind me going through some of the stuff:

    1. In descr_win_conditions.txt

    aztecs
    hold_regions Roman_Province
    take_regions 45
    short_campaign hold_regions ;Roman_Province
    take_regions 15

    papal_states
    hold_regions ;Roman_Province
    take_regions 100
    short_campaign hold_regions ;Roman_Province
    take_regions 80

    slave
    hold_regions Roman_Province Tenochtitlan_Province
    take_regions 100
    short_campaign hold_regions ;Roman_Province
    take_regions 80

some difficult campaigns ahead for these fellas.. once they get modded in.

    2. descr_events.txt

    event plague black_death_hits
    date 266
    position 281, 163
    position 258, 134
    position 233, 117
    position 278, 109
    movie event/black_death.bik

    event plague black_death_1
    date 268
    position 278, 101
    position 258, 104
    position 213, 92
    position 216, 88
    position 209, 73
    position 230, 38
    position 232, 76
and this list goes on and on...

Im glad to see that the black death will have a REAL effect in this game.

    3. descr_strat.txt

show_dates_as_turns - Surely this could be changed so that it is in years? (Might make some people happy!)
rebelling_characters_active - changing this would do..?

Anyone else find anything interesting, post here. :original:

    Aztecs must hold Rome Province...

Will they still have famous generals in the campaign like Henry the Lion or Edward III as in the first game?

Not sure mate, but William the Conqueror is in from the start, so who knows. I know in the historical battles, much like RTW, famous generals are included.

On another point, more stuff in imperial_campaign file.
Repman made a mod so that it shows the turn count in years instead of turns, so i guess this is easily moddable.
Rebellious characters - Heretics and the like i guess.

Now, something I saw that opens possibilities:

In the RTW version of descr_strat.txt, it shows this:

    character Flavius Julius, named character, leader, age 47, , x 89, y 82
    traits GoodCommander 2 , NaturalMilitarySkill 1 , GoodDefender 1 , PoliticsSkill 3 , GoodAdministrator 2 , etc.

Notice how for M2TW it now shows this:

    character William, named character, male, leader, age 50, x 109, y 147
    traits Factionleader 1 , GoodCommander 1 , Intelligent 2 , VictorVirtue 3 , PublicFaith 2 , BattleDread 2 , etc.

The difference? the 'Male' tag inbetween named character and leader. So, what are the chances that we may see female generals such as Joan of Arc in this game? Seems something the modders can work on. :original:

Are they even playble? Maybe the condition is so that they have next to zero chances of winning.

Sure, sure! From the files that were posted by repman (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=67451), you can see that in the regions map it clearly shows that some of the American settlements would have the opportunity to build ports. Only thing is, would THE AZTECS have the technology to build a port? Otherwise, should be fairly easy to mod in.

They'd all get small pox and die.

If theres a trigger for that in the game..

    rebelling characters active

two possible ideas for that i can think of
rebel generals in terms of brigands etc. in RTW you occasionally saw a brigand group commanded by a generals bodyguard unit, with a properly named character.

or possibly something linked to civil wars

Or maybe you own family members/generals can rebel? (Like in BI)

If you read the "campaign_script" file you will notice that the Aztecs are frozen until the moment the first mainland factions "discover" them. So the the Aztecs essentially just sit there totally frozen with three or four stacks until you or the computer discovers them. They just threw in the victory condition probably just cause they had to. So they picked an impossible one.
