    Default Question about catapults

Hi, I have a question about equipment in DeI - why there is no any catapults , onagers in DeI ? Is there some submods to add them like it is in basic ver. of RomeII ?

For barbarians catapults are unlocked after reforms. For Onagers, Romans will get them after Imperial reforms in 1.0. Right now, they have them in the IA campaign.

They are currently being worked on so that they dont act like the OP vanilla version. I dare say they feel like a charm and I hope you will like the DeI version of siege engines!! (not even talking of siege equipment ^^)

It is not set in stone yet, and I'm only a humble beta tester. There is simply more categorization of siege engines as anti-buildings (ballistas/onagers/catapults) or anti-infantry (polybolos/scorpio) as the DeI devs always wanted them to be and as they always should have been.

So now you cant bring 1 or 2 ballistas to a field battle and wipe out the entire enemy army before they even engage your front lines in melee combat but bringing them to a siege battle and the enemy walls will crumble before you.

I'd compare it a bit to gunpowder artillery and support weapons. The scorpion and polybios will function as anti-personnel weapons such as light cannon with grapeshot and Gatling guns, the ballistae and onagers are anti-materiel weapons more like howitzers and mortars. The former are meant for open battles, to soften up enemies before they get to your front lines. The latter should IMO exclusively be used in siege battles to destroy walls and defensive artillery, although technically you could probably use them against enemies in the fortified stance. And now that the caps are removed, you can easily create a siege army if you want, which works well with the revamped siege battle system.

Ive always been a fan of the scorpion, but found it odd where it appeared in the tech tree and underwhelming in battle. Look forward to their newer iterations and expanded battery sizes.

Really hope artillery wont be used with too great effect in fort battles, preferrably not brought at all. This would make the imo already horrible fort battles even worse :/
