Your Plan/Faction Goals

Hey guys,

I haven't seen a topic like this lately and with the game right around the corner I figured we could get another one going.

So, the question is what faction do you plan to play with first (your favorite), afer all of them have been unlocked? If you know any of its units, do you like any of them and why and what will you use them for? Also, what are your basic plans for expansion, such as which areas you wants to attack first, etc? Finally, do you have any personal goals for your faction you choose, such as I want to take over this other faction, etc?

I will almost certainly play Scotland first. Since we don't know much about their units, I can't comment much, but I can say that I have heard that they have highlanders and I think that those will be my basic shock troops that will hold the line and generally wreck that good old Scottish havoc. By the way, I am partially Scottish.

I will concentrate on England first and then move my way to the south. My personal goal is to demolish England (I am English too but you know...

) and to eventually go and fight some Aztecs with my highlanders. One last thing to say, I am a large mix of European cultures so I can't really say anything about any of them. Love them all.

Remember the starting factions are Venice, England, Spain, HRE and the Franks. So no Scotland for you... unless you unlock them via preferences...

I'm starting with Venice. Pick off at the edges of Byzantium and dominate the seas. Eventually Ill hire lots of mercs and sack Constantinople. With any luck Sicily will die and I will get to play as them.. they are my favourite faction.

Thanks for correcting me, I almost forgot about the 5 starting factions. Lets just say after you either unlock/use a code to unlock the other factions, then which will you want to use, etc? Also, I changed the first post to say this basically.

I'll play as England, Conquer Wales then expand up north and crush the Scots, then I'll most probably invade Ireland then move on to France.

I will start as Venice, try to build up a fair economy with trades as soon as possible. Then begin to expand through italy, and open the way down to the middle east.
Belive the crusades can offer both free troops and cash rewards if sucessfully compleated, so thats my first prior.
Havent seen much of the venetian units, but the heavy infantery seems to be good. Would be surprised if venice cant train a good heavy cavalry aswell.

Will play as England first and try a favourite strategy I have when playing a RTR campaign. Concentrate on building up my trade and economy with only one major military centre. Limited expansion to start with the obvious targets of Wales & Scotland my only immediate goals.

Build up the cash, develop my military stronghold as quickly as possible and use that to train and build two or three highly trained, well quipped armies that I will launch Medieval Blitzkreig style across France and the Low Countries. Will probably look to conquer Spain to secure the back door so to speak before heading east.

Cannot wait.

Do anyone know if its possible to travel through other catholic countries without pushing for a conflict?

on a crusade you can pass through without punishment i think

Even if it's not a crusade, you could still travel trough enemy lands. Or it worked in Rome.. Don't know if they get angry..

Anyways, I shall try England first, have fun fighting against France and Scots, building trade and capturing strategic locations. Then I'll build up my tech tree and release my massive elite armies to take over my enemies. After that it's just making plots, betraying, murdering, fighting, manipulating and conquer.

Turks will be high on my "first to play"-list too, and that will be interesting. Destroying crusades as they come and fighting against mongols. I might crush Byzantines and then proceed to the heart of Europe to teach those catholic bastards a lesson.

Oh, it's going to be awesome..

england, secure the isles, just the northernmost area of denmark(helsinki ect) for some extra money/army centers. try to expand along the normany coast on each side of caen, then launch an army to head south through france, and land one on the west coast of france. after france is gone, ill take over the iberian peninsula. then i dont know what ill do, play it by ear i geuss.
