Assault Infantry Questions
Hi,
I'm curious; I read about the assault infantry used by carthage and eperios and I'm wondering what exactly makes them good at their function (which seems to be taking strategic points in cities or forts and attacking enemy formations) and why can't this function be filled by other types of infantry?

Re: Assault Infantry Questions
Well other infantry can fulfill this role any sword/axe infantry really, but the assault just do it better, their higher armour, morale and/or stamina give them an edge.

Re: Assault Infantry Questions
Actually, assault infantry doesn't wear heavy armor. If you take a look at the difference between Macedonian Assault Infantry and Hypaspistai....total defense is the same, but while Hypaspistai got more armor and shield, assault infantry got most of their def in defense skill. This makes the main difference. Assault infantry wears smaller shield and light or medium armor, making them faster and exhaust slower, which gives them advantage in attacking as they can close quickly, while Hypaspistai are line infantry that is supposed to hold against enemy attack. So they're slow, less vulnerable to missiles, and don't have the javelins to disrupt enemy formation before charge.
