That's why even if I lived in America I'd vote Republican and not Libertarian.Originally Posted by Last Roman
Jupp, within todays framework, it should take the full media publication of a massive gay gangbang by all male republican senators+congressmen in the senate or congress followed by the sacrifice of a Christian to Satan on their part, while all democrats were running around the streets killing and torturing homeless people while taking anything of value from the molested bodies (e.g. possible gold teeth), in such an occurence, perhaps new parties both on the left and right could emerge. Otherwise, no way, hose. you'd need a election system change for that, and it wont happen.Originally Posted by Erik
When people still vote for the two major parties today, they will cope with just about any behavior from the two major parties before a third option is considered.
GEIR HASUND!
By the way, though my avatar might indicate so, I am not a citizen of Germany, though my ancestry have a branch in this great nation.
when is the result of the vote, likely to be announced?
if everyone who said "it's a wasted vote" voted third party, the republicans and democrats would be much less powerful
and even if third parties have little/no chance of getting elected, they still serve a purpose, especially single issue parties.
and I dont think any of my votes were wasted, thank you very much.

The reason people feel against voting for independents is that it harms one of the two parties which they feel closer to:
If I voted Libertarian in place of Democrat, then the democrats would be weaker against the republicans, whom I have a lot less in relation to. So my vote is weakening the party I am inclined to, with no real benefit (Unless everyone did it).
In the UK we essentially have a two party system. I still vote Green, because for every Green vote some one casts, its moves the political center ground that much closer to the party whose policies I most support.
