Default 1000 things we learnt from the Europa Barbarorum franchise

I've seen this in the Broken Crescent Thread, I think this will be good. So, what are 1000 things we learnt from the Europa Barbarorum franchise?

    1. The Romans heavily relied on auxiliaries to become a mobile, yet effective force.
    2. Romans weren't cavalrymen.

    Next person will go

    3. The Romans were secretly Ashkenazi Jews etc...

That was quite a confusing statement, could you try to explain again what you meant?

There were Greeks in India who sponsored Buddhism and there was possibly a Greek hoplite bodyguard in Sri Lanka... Also some Iranian Cavalry were known as Kamboja (sp) and are believed to have invaded and given their name to Cambodia after crossing the Indian subcontinent... Some parts of Egypt reportedly still have blond people that are thought to have been descended from Galatian Celts settled in Egypt as mercenaries by the Ptolemy's... Some pre-historic Celtic invasions of Spain are thought (with debate) to have come from Spain rather than from Britain... Sardinia has a really old and unique native culture... Arab and Persian armies included significant numbers of spear wielding archers... Ancient Spain had some amazing cavalry... There were a lot of powerful Celtic tribes in central Europe... Naked Fanatics were almost unkillable because of the drugs and alcohol they consumed before battle... Bactrian General's and their bodyguards went to war with Demon masks (their helmet and faceplate)... There were a ton of well armed tribes in Italy, and the Roman domination of that peninsula was almost a survival of the fittest scenario which might be one reason they were successful empire builders later... Ethiopia had a strong cultural influence upon South Arabia (Saba/Ethiopia connection). the Celts were the most powerful ethnic group in Europe, but they were so disunited that they were conquered by their neighbors... The barbarians (except Germans) were better at metal working for weapons and armor than were the settled peoples of Greece, Italy, and Persia.... There were a number of military revolutions in the three hundred years before the common era - including the Macedonian Phalanx/Heavy cavalry, theuros/thorakti and the professionalization of the Roman army... Last (for me) Epirus had elephants, and might have changed the course of history had Pyrrus (sp) lived...

I have a history degree (mostly modern emphasis) and I did not know most of these facts until I played EB 1... in most of these cases a bit of research confirmed the EB team's game interpretation! I wish I could make my student's play this game for two weeks straight... that would be a lot more useful in teaching the classical era of history than a textbook! Nice job!

    8. That conquering the Thyssagetae is a trap, those bastards were guaranteed to rebel asap. No, seriously, I didn't even know about the existence of that tribe, until I played EB1 for the first time.

He's referring to a bug which causes the monuments (or ancient tourist sites ) to get moved from their correct place to random settlements.
