    Default Maximising performance

I haven't played EB2 in awhile and I don't remember the game running this badly when I have two full stacks fighting each other. I'm assuming it's my CPU and the whole multi-threading issue M2TW has. Does anyone have any ways they get the game to run better for them? Turning down the graphics doesn't seem to affect anything.

I was thinking, I have a quad core CPU. If those specific ghz are being split up among four cores, I wonder if the game would run better if I had a single core because the power wouldn't be split up among them. Then again I don't even know if computers work this way. I'm just saying, I would buy a new computer just to make this game more playable.

Back with EB/RTW there was a discussion around moving all the other processes to a different core, so that the game could use a dedicated core all to itself. I don't know if something similar would work for EBII as well.

This is a general M2TW concern with modern computing. There must be a guide or suggestions around the other forums. I have an i7 and plenty of horsepower to max settings in modern games, including newer TW titles* like Shogun FOTS with no lag, but this goes into slideshow in big battles (sometimes) and even moving around the campaign map, it's like the tree textures are all grasping at my monitor, slowing it down.

Does the team have suggestions? The texture issues must have been known looong ago.

*Rome II doesn't count since it looks half as good as Shogun and performance was completely botched.

I don't know whether it helps, but my game initially ran a little slow. Probably because of my system's age, lack of memory and that I had done a little editing of the unit size in the game. So I allocated more virtual memory usage and cranked up my graphic card's memory and core clock speeds using V-Tuner 3. Didn't have a problem after that.

Won't be your memory, I'm using 3GB on my card and 8GB 2000MHz odd DDR3 RAM and it's pushing it hard. It's pushing my r9 280x a lot and that's overclocked to a 1200 core, my 8350's handling it fine though, well what's being used of it. I think using shader 2 on a shader 5 card will never be optimal, plus multi cores. I think it would run better if you used windows xp and an old top end shader 2 or 3 card and a good single core from an antiques shop. lowering shadows and AA is the best option other than that.
