Icon10 Does anybody have any experience on Hayasdan and likes to share it?

    Hi dear DeI community,

I've looked into playing RTW2 again with this glorious submod, but am lost as too what faction to start over with.
Athens and Sparta campaigns quickly became boring so I turned my eyes to the east.
Hayasdan seems to be the most interesting to me at the moment.
Does anybody have any experience with them and is willing to share their opinion on a campaign with them. Any difficulty will do, I normally played DeI on VH/VH.

    Thank you in advance

I playes as them and really enjoyed it but I didnt finish the campaign.
First I Took over the Caucas, using the mountains there as buffers against the nomads. In the start really all you have is levy troops and AOR troops and thus I recruted AOR troops from Caucasia wich included Scythian Archers. After that I Took over Pontos, and Trapezos and from there I went against the Seleucids. Note that Conquering Pontos took almost 20 years and several times they were close to defeat me as I at the same time had to defend against invading Scythian Hordes. But after a shaky peace The second Pontic war began and after maybe 7 years Pontos fell.
Pontos and the Seleucids and everyone else in Anatolia sometimes form a mega Alliance. You can either wage war on this alliance or go north and join the alliance.

I could go at lenght descripting them, but I just want to confirm to you that they are very interesting

Their unit roster is very varied and interesting, their geographic position put you at odds with nomads and eastern factions, even greeks if they survive in anatolia. If you get access to the sea and expand enough you can even meet african and italian nations without going too far away from your home.

I've only played them in any depth in the IA campaign, but they've quickly become one of my favourite factions due to the mix of Hellenic and Eastern troop types. Definitely worth a try

try to grab Cappadocia et Galatia and make it your military province, it has everything you'll need

Okay, so I've taken your advice and I'm around turn 60 or something. In the pics below you can see that I've defeated Arche Bosporus with a little help from Pontus, my military ally. Media had my back by beating the Aorsoi to a pulp and I'm at decent terms with the nomads north of Arche Bosporus territory with a non-aggression pact and a trade agreement. The Seleucids are at war with my military ally Media but are very friendly with Pontus and the rest of Anatolia. I liberated Trapezos from Colchis so they are my Thunderbuddies for life ( I hope). So I actually want to expand into the west, conquering Pontus, Pergamon and the other factions (Basically I want present Turkey to be my ). In the east my position is pretty stable with Media at my back and a chunk of sea and mountains. South lies the Seleucids who are just waiting for an excuse to strike. I have the feeling that if I attack either Pontus or Seleucia I'm going to be in over my head.

    What do you guys think?

I think you are in a worse position than you realize. You only have one complete province, namely the one you started with. Media and pontus -your "allies" are getting strong, which means they will get harder to beat once breaks out. Media has copper, and Pontus managed to grab most of galatia et capadoccia (including iron). That is BAD. Like really freakinī bad. Every single faction in Anatolia should make a run for this province ASAP, it is the best military province in the entire map, combining resources, size and AoR units. As far as I recall from my 3 or 4 Armenian campaigns, you need acces to copper to get either better barracks or stables (canīt quite remember), so when gets down with media, be sure to attack Tanais first. And please, take out Pontus before it gets beastly...

When playing with Armenia it is necessary to upgrade barracks ASAP to get access to good units. Armenia has really fearsome cav and infantry units but initially they are all blocked deep in technology trees, so what do u need is to take some time to develop urself for a while. So I took Caucasus. I keep Media and Pontus as my defensive allies to secure myself from Selucids invasions. Both Media and Pontus tried to climb to Caucasus and asked my to help them but i didn't do it, they mustn't get too strong. Media after taking Ardahan was kicked out from Caucasus by nomads, I used that moment to take the whole Region of Caucasus under my control, then i tried to attack the nomads, but that was a huge mistake, alone u can't beat them in open territory. To many cav units they have. So after developing u must take trapezus even if u need to go to war with Pontus and break ur alliance.
The only thing that u must keep in ind is that Selucid will eat u when he has that chance.
BTW i hate it that CA made such a poor unit roster for Armenia. Being one of the main powers of that times, they have "easter","persian","kartli" and NOT a single Armenian unit in their roster. Thx to DEI and other mods Armenia has normal unit roster, but why shan't CA make it himself, kind of Hellenic/Roman propaganda? or what.

@ Vardan, the game is sadly played from a vein y Western perspective, and I think they assumed a few token units e.g. Azat Knights for Armenia are enough for people to be satisfied for what is a fringe nation to Rome for most of the campaign. It seems lazy or rushed, but I think that's a common theme in Rome 2. Still a slight improvement on Armenia in Rome 1, who felt like a variation on Parthia to me.

Edit: Does anyone know any good authors for this period of Armenian history? Feels weird not knowing much history about a nation I'm playing ☺

Edit 2: Forgot that Armenia had legionaries in Rome 1, probably because they never showed up

They're my favorite faction. I play them on Very Hard though enemies have only been declaring war on me one at a time and now I have captured a few territories and have no enemies so I sort of lost interest.

After playing with them I prefer eastern factions over Western ones or atleast Rome and Barbarians

I took Caucas first then focused on Media while allying with Parthia and pontus and staying neutral to the Sels. I conquered all the way down to the red sea is it at Arabia? My next plan is to conquer north and control that part of the map.

Is anyone having problems with the first army (given at the start of the campaign) being able to level up. The Experience is listed as 32/0. Disbanding the army and reinstating it does not help.

It's a 1900's German doctorate paper from first-hand research on ancient Armenian customs.

Armenian Armoured Horse Archers right from tier 2 stables and it's pretty much game over.. (battle-wise)
