Default Allies camp in corner and refuse to attack

I recently lost a battle due to a strange behaviour on my allies part. As my Rohan allies entered the field, they just arranged troops in the corner of the battlefield and stood there, even though we were the attacking side. I attempted to attack alone and lost, then the enemy counterattacked and destroyed Rohirrim still camping in their corner. We had a good chance to win this battle (even though enemy was numerically superior over our combined force), but only if we attacked simultaneously.

Did such thing happen to you as well? If so, do you have any idea what triggers such behaviour?

Yes this happens quite a lot.. Also when I defend settlement without walls then the enemy just encircle the settlement but attackk only with a part of their army while most of them just camp outside the city and doing nothing... This is like 80% of the time.. I dont know whats the problem, but I guess its the engine

If I told you that this Ai was a significant improvement on vanilla medieval 2, you can imagine what kind of retarded behavior they got up to in base game.

    The same happens to me.
I guess that you got attacked by your enemies? When the AI gets attacked it will sometimes (always when you attack them as a defender in siege battles) back off to the outer part of the battlefield and wait for their opponent to march against them.

Can get really annoying sometimes and never had it happen i Vanilla M2TW.

In this battle I was the attacking side (and my allies were acting as reinforcements). It might have had something to do with the fact that our armies were smaller than defending enemy (Isengard).

Things got even more funny when Isengard attacked in next turn (they hit Rohan forces standing next to my survivors from earlier battle, so this time I was entering as reinforcements). As if trying to make up for their earlier inaction, Rohirrim charged superior enemy and got annihilated before I had chance to reach them. Then I fought a bitter struggle against Isengard until all that was left on the field was my two bodyguard units (down to 3 and 5 men respectively), against one unit of Uruk-hai Archers, one unit of Uruk-hai Pikemen and a small group of Dunlending veterans.

Unable to retreat, I tried to make them pay dearly - I charged Dunlendings first, scattering them and losing one bodyguard, then lined up remaining 7 knights on a hill for a final glorious charge. At this point, instead of attacking me, both Uruk-hai units simply marched off the field. I was victorious - despite having 7 men left to enemy's 200.

Seems like Saruman still has some honour left in him after all! Or perhaps he just wanted to send a messeage?
After all, I doubt that an orc would chose to spare an enemy unless the White Wizard tells them so.
In any way, you sure is lucky.

Were you able to give Rohan simple orders like attack, or defensive stance? Perhaps Theoden never became free from the corruption of Saruman.

I dont think you can give them orders when you are the reinforcement.

Well, I'm always on my own as the Silvan Elves, the dwarfs are doing quite fine too I must say, so no need to send them help.
Been a while since I last played a 2 v 1-2-3.. battle though. I do not remember when you are able to use the AI control panel.

when you deploy more than one army and you have at least one general in two or more armies

basically, if you deploy more armies but they are commanded by a captain, you can only call them into the battlefield as a reinforcement (with the limit of 20 units on your side), while if you have i.e. two armies with 20 units each but BOTH with a general, both armies will join in. Before you start the battle you can choose if to leave complete control to the AI or if to choose by yourself their behaviuor (IIRC you also have the chance to manage them as normal reinforcements, although I'm not sure at the moment).
