    Default Greek presidential election.

The Greek government decided to initiate the procedures for the presidential election. The president of the republic is a figurehead with very limited power. The election, however, requires (ultimately) a 3/5 majority, a majority which is questionable if the current governing coalition can reach. In case of failure to procure the 180/300 votes a parliamentary (general) election will be held which is bound to overthrow the current government. That on the wake of a just received bailout extension and with no candidates yet.

Hopefully they manage to get enough votes.

SYRIZA will be an obstacle since they'll do anything to overthrow the government.

I don't think people will even realize that if we need to have parliamentary elections, it will be because of them, and they'll vote them in still.

On the other hand, I don't think that things will be so tragic if SYRIZA comes to power, since I'm assuming all of their hollow rhetoric will probably be gone a few days into government.

Yes, but they will install the ex-PASOK guys to positions and 3-4 years later we will be as we were in 1985.
