    Default Generals' Speaches.

I do hope they will make a return, in a more enhanced state.

Rome 2 ones were half assed & diificult to focus on due to game design.

Shogun 2 ones were quite well done, and featured variations according to who was being fought, which was very nice.

Medieval 2 General speaches were excellent, even if they did get a little repetetive.

    Rome 1 were OK IIRC.

I would rather they spent more time on faction introductions in the rome 1 style with excellent voice overs. the campaign advisor map panning + introduction is cool but there is no reason why we can't have both.

I'm pretty sure Rome II's speeches are contextual too. My favorite ones were Rome I's, though, because of their length.

I never like Rome 2's speeches style, as soon as battle start, "ok guys, I want to say..... FORWARD!! FORWARD!!! CHARGE!!!!!!!!!! ALL UNIT MARCH!!!! ONWARD! ONWARD!!!" lol

Wouldn't it be nice if all we had to complain about was the General's speech's. It's a none issue for me but if I had to choose it would be Rome I and Shogun II.

Indeed. It would be if that was the worst of the game`s faults.

I have never complained about R2 speeches, but yes, I liked RTW and even more so MTW2`s ( and Shogun2) speechs which were varied, sometimes funny, but keeping in the theme of the times. I always stopped to hear the speeches. I was even more impressed when alternative factions other than England had different accented speech too, like the Moors. My only wish was that the mouths opened in time to the words.

In RTW2 the mouths open and close, but nothing of worth comes out.

Well Rome 2's mechanics are way superior because you don't actually have to pause the game to hear the speech. However content-wise the R1 and M2 ones were way more hilarious.

I liked Rome 1's the best because they were the only genuinely stirring ones. Medieval II's were funny but unconvincing and Shogun II's were lazy. Rome 1 had detailed, sometimes useful and very well-delivered speeches. Despite the American voice actor, I found them more immersive as they are by far the most inspiring.

I think they are a good scene setter, & should be done as a proper cut scene format.
I like both the more serious Rome 1 & the very amusing Medieval 2 one's.
The Shogun 2 format wasn't bad either as it had more variety.
As I said earlier, the way they were done in Rome 2 was very half assed.

The Shogun 2 ones were the most cinematic, complete with various camera angles on the army, and an unique music track building up to a crescendo. Medieval II's were the most amusing and interesting to hear. I hope they do come back, although I can't figure out in what context - the simplistic form used by Rome II, or the deep cinematic versions used by Shogun II? Perhaps a mix of the best bits of both versions would be nice.

    Default .

Medieval 2 speeches were the best. I liked those alot. I will admit to skipping quite a few as most of my time was spent on the strategic portion and I didn't want to get bogged down by the fighting /speeches part.

Medieval II speeches were the best and most immersive IMO. I can remember my English King in a battle against France, calling them "arse-weasels" and such. Speeches actually varied depending on which faction or culture you were fighting. Even your general's traits and personality had a role in what he would say in his speech.

Sadly, in R2, generals are completely devoid of personality and character, and I never found myself mourning or angry over the death of a general... Their speeches are so boring and generic.

Nice mix would be nice. A general with higher command (or rank) should deliver long and inspiring speeches. Lower ranked generals short and sweet.
