crash on startup

i want to try this mod but it keeps crashing. im using mod manager because idont have the game for steam

i extract the game to my data folder and try to launch and it crashes

i revert to vanilla and no crash

If you are using a hacked version of the game. Which I suppose you are since you dont use steam. There is nothing to do.

not usign hacked version my friend gave me his cd but the steam key is already in use hence the no steam even tho i am allowed to play the game .
o well i dont really like the vanilla version much anyway

That's still a hacked version of the game, both technically and legally. Furthermore, since patches only come from Steam and you can't connect it to Steam, there's no telling what version you have. For all we know, you could be on a completely unpatched version of the game, which is wholly incompatible with DeI. Each version of DeI is made to work on certain patches (almost always the latest one), so it's not surprising that DeI won't run at all.

Well, yeah, since it sounds you're playing the game in an unpatched or early state, I'm not surprised. Of course, now it's a completely different game even in vanilla, and moreso with DeI working. No doubt it will be 50%-75% off during the Steam winter sale, so if you don't want to pay full price, it's a good bet you can get it for cheap in the next couple weeks.
