Default Fixed Alliances and Ceasefires in MTW2.

Everybody agrees TW series-alliances are not even worthy of discusion. So we better speak about how alliances would be in perfect MTW2.In those times alliances were defencive you had to fight against common enemy .CA could fix that(remember Roman factions).Neutral factions had degrees of Cause Belli and ceasefires were on fixed time periods like 4-8 turns.

How about we play the game first before claiming that CA should fix this and that shall we??
So far the word is that alliances are better.

Well, developer and comunity blogs mention that the campaign AI has increased - both in terms of moves and diplomacy. First see - then criticize .

Where you see the critics here it's the constructive question.

I'm an old SPI wargamer...you know...little punch out cardboard counters on a paper map....it took 8 hours to fight one battle. STW is too good to be true for me...I still can't get over what a cool game it is...

In the TW games the AI attacs in a few turns as I get a common border . I guess to keep up the challange the AI factions gang against the human.

no according to smoke and others alliances change quickly. I'm going be pretty darn annoyed if ca has lied about the campaign AI being better.

When did this turn to HOI vs. TW thread? =) I agree that HoI's are the greatest strategy games ever, and TW's can't compete with them, BUT Total War is mostly about huge and interesting real time battles in different eras, campaign map is only a necessity. You can't compare these two games. If someone hates pretty real time battle, I don't see why they would play TW just for campaign (Or someone would, if he likes history etc.)

And into subject: Game isn't out yet, wait for it and see for yourselves or read the reviews. If AI sucks and it bothers you, don't buy the game. Criticism is always good, but I'd wait before saying anything. There's always hope..

Maybe you can PM that guy in sweeden at the .org to ask him how alliances are working...?

I thought that in MTW the diplomacy part wasn't so bad... and hopefully MTW will return there, and maybe even be better.

Actually he said that Allies didn't attack him as much and factions stayed allies with him more, unless they saw an opportunity to take provinces from him. He also said factions accept ceasfires now if they are being beaten unlike in RTW. Everyone who has played the game so far have said that the diplomacy and campaign ai are better, and both are also going to be moddable in M2TW.

He said they changed quickly when the ai saw an opportunity to get more land. So if you leave a province on your border poorly defended for a few turns whilst of crusading the ai might attack you as it sees an opportunity. Basically it does what i do when i play the game.

As it should be. I have nothing against AI that attacks me, as long as they have a good reason for it, unlike Rome. In RTW allies attack you when they only have one province left and you are begging them for a ceasfire.
