Thread: [PREVIEW] Unit polishing for DEI 1.0

Default [PREVIEW] Unit polishing for DEI 1.0

As part of the fine-tuning and polishing work for DEI 1.0, all DEI units are being revisited to improve variety and realism. This includes a wider variety of faces/skins and clothing for different cultures. Now a low levy of mobs will look like a proper mixed bunch of hastily armed civilians, and more elite units will have a few new items where needed. The aim of these improvements are to keep the current look for most units but adding more uniqueness to some cultures and greater variety and realism within units. The garrison troops are included in these improvements, and now there are mixed male/female armed townspeople for barbarian cultures.

Here is a small preview of some of the improved looks for units:

Those look even much better in the game. When I played as Numidians today I was like "Wait...those are the same guys I rebalanced few weeks ago?" It is great!

Wonderful job Senor Diego! I like the diversity and the potential it has to offer.
Now if only for most factions the colors uniform textures could be replaced with some more realistic ones, i would be very happy.
For examle, I am playing Arevacci and seing most units run in yellows and reds hurts my eyes .

Already done for version 1.0. That was the first thing I had to fix, every single faction colour is now more natural ( even minor factions! )

    Wow Amazing! Nicely done guys.

Are you guys also considering different equipment for different units in the future ? Wooden clubs, wooden spears with burned tips, iron maces, regional style blades, ect ?

My laptop is crap, it can barely handle Rome 2 when on low graphics, but I swear to you, the coming of 1.0 has made me consider buying a new PC. I absolutely NEED to see thoose sweat looking units on full detail!!!
    +rep. Awesome job

Awesome! This is shaping up to be a truly epic release. Thank you for your hard work and I hope this mod gets all the attention it deserves (a lot) and launches you all onto bigger and better things in the future.

Not complaining.. but is it possible to edit the soldiers' bodies? So many of them look like Arnold Governator..

Pretty much all of them looks awesome ! My only concern is that the second unit of celtic/barbarian looks a lot like abercrombie model hipsters, for some reason im always displeased with the patterns on barbarian clothes, in all unit packs ive tried.

But yeah apart from that i love them all !
