    Default iTunes Help

Please, I really need somebody to help me on this on-I contacted Apple Personnel, but they won't help me because I haven't paid to extend my warranty on my iPod. Heres th issue. I had and used itunes 7.1 for a very long time, and it worked perfectly. Then, about a week ago, I tried to upgrade my iTunes, because every time I loaded it, it suggested that I upgrade. Well, I finally tried to, and two errors popped up that prevented me from upgrading. I have tried several times, and I always get the same two errors. If anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated!

    The errors are:

Error 1905 .Module C:\Program files\itunes\itdetector.ocx failed to unregister. HRESULT -2147220472. Contact your support personnel.

    Second error:

    Could not open key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\AudioCD\shell\play. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, of contact your support personnel.

Again, any help would be great!

    Thanks,
    tech

Since this is an iTunes help thread and I don't want to start a new thread, can I ask, why, everytime i have my itunes open, the song playing, only plays when the iTunes box is selected and no other windows are open. When I open up another window, like a MSN conversation, and make that the active window, for example, in front of my iTunes, the music just like...stops playing...

Is this just my computer? Or...something I can fix...

Sorry to hijack your question, technishn08, but i'd also suggest what Spiff told you.

It's just the same problem i was facing with MS encarta.I used to open some other window and the music in the 3d tour used to stop.I tried minimizing but didn't work. Then i just clicked on the taskbar tab which is meant to minimize without actually giving a command to the program that you are doing something like that.

Try clicking on your itunes program tab on the taskbar prior to your opening of some other window. And yes, in my itunes i never face such a problem.Might be some fix necessary for installation.Look on the apple website.I never visit that though. It's futile, all things too weird unless you want to buy them.

And Technishn08, just an advice:-renew your warranty period. That's what i would have done if i were at your place.I don't think the Apple people charge you a lot for that. After that they may give you some proper help.We people here can just make guesses and not the right solution to your problem. But they are real professionals who handle such cases daily.

Well, thats a good idea, but the problems only started once I tried to upgrade it, and I have tried uninsalling and reinstalling several times.

It sounds to me like its a registry issue, my advice would be to do a Google search on:
    - Error 1905 and
    - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\AudioCD\shell\play

and see what you get, e.g. for searching on "Error 1905", the first result was the this page - this person got the same error message for a different application, so hopefully the same solution will work:

Start -> Run -> type "run regsvr32 /u GCCollection.dll" (without quotes) and hit enter

Before you try this please note that I haven't tried this myself and don't know if it will definitely work - it may even make the problem worse - you should do the same Google search and see if another link recommends the same solution

I typed that in, pressed enter, and this is what came up:

DllUnregisterServer in GCCollection.dll failed. Return code was:0x8002801c

    Does this mean it worked?
