    Hey there,
I just bought the game while it was on sale.
Used to be a huge TW fan but ever since Empire I believe they have lost it.. Anyways enough of me

I played the first campaign as Julia and attacked turn 3 one of the settlements of this faction.
they had two armies which together were double my number so I sieged the settlement.

When it was the AI's turn he attacked.
What happened was the worst thing that could happen. I stayed back and I was hoping the AI would consolidate his forces.
But noooooooo they just slammed into me whoever could reach me first. So after breaking the first army and sacrificing a unit so he could hold off the other I won the battle.

Is there anything out there that fixes the AI? I was using this mod in the hopes it did that as well as other great features..

Unfortunately, the battle AI is hardcoded. We can't change that, nor can any other mod.

no ing way really? then whats the point of modding the game if the AI is still gonna suck balls?
Well guess it's back to ss6.4 I guess that is what you get for hoping

What about the fabulous mod tools that were promised and the mod summit? was it all bs?

CA, I believe is slowly opening up for more and more, but besides a few flaws though some are major, mods still improve the game by alot

AI really depends on many factors. In most of my battles, AI would almost invariably wait for reinforcement and attack in full force, unless you have artillery. In this case AI would throw itself against my line without delay.

I'm not very sure but I think the problem is not AI itself, but the way the game calculates strength. It's well-known that in auto-resolved battles, the side with more but inferior men (aka barbarian factions) triumphs against the side with less but better soldiers (aka Roman). If player plays the battle himself, the result will be completetly different of course. Perhaps in your case, AI "saw" that his first army was already superior and decided to attack right away.

That scenario could have happened in real ancient battles of the General was not a very good tactician or was blinded by huge ego and hugely underestimated his foe so I guess in a way it's not that bad and have a possible realistic value to it.

hmmm I like your point of view!
But it's kind of making allowances for the game since I doubt it's that deep..
I'll go back to Medieval until such a day as they allow AI modding or the fix the AI themselves..

    Thanks for the replies though!

The AI often waits for reinforcement before attack it isnt the usual thing (havent seen that). Also Im not so pissed even though i payed way more for the game. The only real issue is the late game being too easy, playing a weak faction, the early and mid game is nice, if you have enemies that is. especially in the furthest eastern area, the factions often build alliances against seleucid, leading to a isolation of that one guy that wants someone to fight but doesnt want to piss off the whole east. humans are always superior to game AI when it comes to tactics and stuff.

I don't know about you guys but my Victory/Defeat ratio has changed in one year. A year ago at the start of DEI I would win 99% of battles while now the AI has the drop on me on several occasions. It is true that the AI can still pull some dumb move but he can also pull off some interesting tactics and clever use of its units. Its not perfect but really DEI did a big difference and I enjoy those long uncertain battles no matter what the outcome.

AI is like a dog sometime it wants to play ball sometimes it just doesn't ...!
