Is it a CG movie or what the engine is really capable of?

Just a promo movie, I remember one clip from Viking Invasion disc, and it looked awesome. Of course, it had nothing to do with the real game. Those are just to make people interested, unfortunately. =)
Nowadays they seem to do these with real engine for Medieval 2 though, maybe because the engine already exists..
    Nice video however.

Yeah, the videos a mix of alpha RTW game footage, and stuff done with the game engine, just not ingame.

Let's be brutally honest about it, folks. It was a form of false advertising. Almost nothing of the implied gameplay actually came out with the real game. Now, I'm old school, been with CA since Shogun. Bought RTW and will be one of the first to get MTW2. But Rome's release was a turning point in CA and their publisher's desire to produce quality stuff, or simply generate cash cows. I distinctly remember with the RTW demo release, battle of Trebbia, everyone cooing over how great it was, then when it went gold we were all dissapointed, and to top it off the forums at the official site derided or completely ignored concerned consumers. So don't be surprised when Medieval 2 is buggy, inconsistent with earlier advertising, weak in ai, shallow in strategic gameplay and will require 3 patches, which will in turn create more incurable bugs.
Don't get me wrong, I'm as excited as anyone to get the Medieval 2, but lets temper our enthusiasm with a skeptic's eye, so that these forums aren't flooded to the point of crashing 2 days after the game goes gold with people agonizing over its various woes.

Well actually i think your forgetting we are dealing with CA under SEGA now, not the CA under Activision who said the load-save bug was a "feature2. The CA under SEGA have already said there is a bug with the ai that will be fixed with a first day patch. Everyone who's played M2Tw so far have said the ai is much better than RTw, the strategic map is much better, and has more depth to it, and they are going to release patches, as they've said that they are going to continue to work on the ai until it is as good as it can be.

I hope so, Lusted. Mayhap it was Activision twisting CA's arm before, and SEGA is new to this genre, after all. The proof is in the pudding, as they say. We'll see how things go six months down the road, as far as adequate patches, respect for the consumer, etc. You mentioned its been played already, does this refer to that advanced group that attended a pre-release? Or has gone gold in Europe already??

That is to me a very reassuring thing to hear. For me the AI and the campaign is what is important. Although the fact that the demo freezes my computer doesn't reassure me as far as my present comp being able to manage the new game.

Some guys at TWc got to play it at preview events/are games journalists and so have played it. And a guy at .com already has it due to a mistake by the company he pre-ordered it from. Im going to be playing the game at the Gold code day event in 2 days time, and getting the game as well. Plus CA did fly out Episoltary Richards to their dev studio for a week, at their own expense.
