Just wondering if there is a way to make your own anti-static device for tinkering with your computer's insides. I know it's not advised but I kinda need to get in there now.
Cheers

1. tap your fingers on your powersupply first, its usually grounded.
2. Dont work on carpet, you are just asking for trouble.
3. put your parts in anti-static bags when you transport them around. (the greyish placstic bags that 90% of new hardware comes in)

Thanks for that... I knew wooden floors throughout was a good idea.
All you need is to be grounded when working on your PC.
Or at least remove any possible static charge you gathered during the day.
I think as long as you don't have carpet and you don't wear a wool/synthetic sweater you will be fine if you just discharge once before you start work.
Touching your central heating system will discharge you.
As does touching the ground in a wall socket (the metal clips that stick out in a standard socket)
I think krazykarl is also right about touching the power supply.
But it must be plugged in for that work.
touching anything large and metal would work
