I am hoping Atilla is CAs apology for what they did to Rome 2. Not many expected another TW title to be released so soon and to me it seems as tho CA is trying to forget Rome 2 just as quickly as 90% of the people who have played the game. It would be great to see a Total War game with the graphics of Rome 2 lol
what are you talking about...everyone has been expecting BI2 ever since R2 was announced. As soon as it was confirmed and we found out they would be renaming it, we found out it would be out in feb. The new game will be very much like Rome II, so if you wanted to forget R2 you will want to forget Attila as well. They are just adding more historical inaccuracies and gimmicks to the same broken game. They are even using the same campaign map, only altered as much as it was for Augustus campaign.
No, Attila is like Napoleon for Empire, Napoleon Total War was what Empire Total War should have been with loads of new features and polishes which Empire should've had, Attila Total war is much like this, there both similar time periods, but cannot be expansions as there are so many changes and all for the good...well, most
I have no proof of this, but it's the only Logical explanation, we'll see when they release the details...if there is mercury in CA's water supply...or not!
Napoleon's campaign was bland as it was such a small concept, Attila, Is different as the rise of the Huns is close to the fall of the Western Roman Empire and advent of the Dark Ages and that is just the western theatre! So much opportunities for DLC and money arise from this and as for us... Perhaps, After Attila, an amazing Total War like Shogun 2 following Napoleon will come!
Maybe Empire 2, Medieval 3 or something new entirely!![]()
BI added many new features as well. BI was as different from R as BI2 will be from Rome II. The map was more different. It added religion, night battles and swimming. BI and BI2 will have nearly identical factions as well. The only new features BI2 will offer are horribly arcade and make the game worse instead of better. Yes the relation is also the same as Napoleon to Empire or FotS to Shogun II. You are confusing marketing gimmicks with reality.
I"m not sure there will be a next total war game after BI2 and Arena bomb. Sega won't put up with decreasing sales for long. Looking at its history will tell you that. CA saw that what they tried with R2 didn't work, but instead of going back to their roots with the next title they are doubling down and making another game with the same strategy.

man, reading the comments on various gaming sites, it serves as a wake up call for ca :/ 90% of the posts are about not pre ordering if you want a working game.
ca really needs to do a video like shadow of mordor devs did, showing off the game uncut(campaign gameplay, UI, new features, the good features that everyone should know about etc). more gameplay, focus on the features, less ca employees trying to be funny on camera![]()
fear is helluva drugSpoiler Alert, click show to read:Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Yeah but Shadow of Mordor is a pretty mediocre game. It's a one shot pony. Kill an orc then kill another. Trying to fit Romans, Vikings, Huns, and everything else all in one is pretty ambitious and the more I see the more I like but some things need to be implemented better. I don't like the Franks cavalry they've shown. The Gold scales just look weird but im all for some german cataphracts if they can make it work. Give them chainmail armor for riders and horses. I'm assuming Chainmail makes more sense then golden scale. Or maybe even gold chainmail? Its psudo history for sure. But it can be accurate psudu history. Does that make anying sense?
I cant really say how accurate anything really is though. I pick up a bit of knowledge from reading the historians on here then follow up with my own research.... pretty much just speaking out of my ass.
You say you wont buy Atilla but your only lying to your self.
wtf !!!
39.99 for a DLC?????
Look at it as €39.99 for a large number of requested features/changes that the community has been begging for since the Rome 2 release, but on a completely different time scale that by in large will feel identical to Rome 2 (hopefully the "16 patches Rome 2", not the "release 1.0 Rome 2"), just completely not at all set in Antiquity.
But hey who is to say we can't complain because who doesn't want a free patch where you get harpies and ghastly ghouls on your battlefield or a generous $8 DLC for the ever so wanted female Roman Gladiators that were talked about for centuries amongst the historians of the eras.
Without mercy. Without compassion. Without remorse.
All war depends upon it.
Jesus Christ, I haven't posted on the forum since the debacle with the "release" of Rome II. I can't even begin to describe my level of disappointment with CA's current choice of marketing, pricing and overall game design. My opinion is that this is Rome II all over again, they will not fool me twice for then the shame would be on me. Attila will be the first TW game I will not buy since Medieval I, since I'd rather give my money to companies like the lovely Poles of CD Projekt who have announced an actual new game (Witcher 3), not an expansion, along with free dlc for the first few months. I rather like it when companies respect people and shame on you CA for what you have become. I guess we'll always have Rome I...
This DLC would have been perfect had it been simply named "Invasion of Britannia DLC", but of course CA is showing its deep rooted insecurity by going for the "BADASS!" route for ATW - Doomsday Huns, making 4th century Germanic tribes into Vikings, now I'm waiting for the King Arthur/Romano-British DLC.
You can tell that CA's content team is run by a suit rather than a developer or historian. Ironically, I should have seen this coming. There were a lot of people on TWC who felt that Britannia/Germania got the shaft in R2 and I argued that CA is waiting for a BI-era game in order to give us "Badass Germans", Welp, here we go. (:

I want all the people who said the game wouldn't be coming out until September and how crazy they thought of us who always believed it was coming out in February were to remember everything they said before. They are going to go from pre-alpha to release in a few months again. It probably won't be as bad as Rome since this is basically an official mod for Rome, but they will still have little or no beta testing yet again. So everyone who is pre-ordering realize you are signing up to be a beta tester again.

I hope this song makes the game's soundtrack.

I wonder if the early release is because it's beta release, and so CA would have until around September to achieve the end product.
I doubt it though

This has alway been intended release. It is to try to get some more sales before the end of the fiscal year to make of up for the disappointing sales of R2. It will be another beta release, but probably not as buggy as R2 because they didn't change as much this time. R2 doesn't seem to be a fluke but the way CA will conduct business until it goes out of business.
