Awesome news mate!
I wish i knew much about caesar's legions to help you..
Great news Leonardo, was waiting for proper Caesarian Legionaries all the time. So far there were only the Augustan Legionaries available.
Here are some shield designs of Caesar's legions, mostly taken from reenactors and as historical accurate as possible 2,000 years later with no drawings surving from that time.
Descriptions of shield patterns are derived from descriptions in texts, mostly 'De Bello Gallico'.
Without further ado:
Legio X (the Legion's symbol was a bull):

To give a few examples. The allocation of shield patterns to specific legions has been randomly done by me (except for Legio X which has the bull confirmed), but ALL shield patterns are historically accurate by todays standards to have been used during Caesar's time by Roman Legions.
There is diversity, historical authenticity and I think they look cool. Hope this helps you to get an idea and I hope to see a couple of them in the mod
Cheers
You forgot

and Pompey borrowed this legion, http://www.livius.org/articles/legion/legio-vi-ferrata/, to Ceaser

Omg!
That's awesome!!!
Leonardo, I have a small suggestion.
Can you peplace augustan shields, in your Augustan pack, to these awesome republican scutums, that you did, please?
A little strange to see Antony`s or Pompey`s legionnaires with augustan scutums, that used only from 10 B.C., after civil war)

HOw can I download this with out steam? I prefer to manually install this and I hate when I accidently unsubscribe to a mod on steam and then I have to wait till it downloads again.
LEONARDO THE GREATare you still adding content to this mod or have you found a stopping point just curious
yes, i will still be adding new content to all three projects i am working on, however i have been pressed for time for the past month or so. i will probably compile my generals pack for upload before i add any new imperial or republican units.
Super glad you are making the republican legionaires, they look awesome already. This may be a dumb question, but will they be usable for DEI / will they be able to replace the DEI legionary model?
Thanks, this is the best roman reskin mod!
Regards

Hey Leonardo, really nice work^^
Especially the new Praetorian shields
Btw: Are the new republican legionary shields your own work or did you have access to Kaziels models?
Because if the latter was the case, do you also have access to his ridiculously cool squamatas?
I´d really love to see these in game, but his thread has been silent for a while now...
Why wouldn't they?
It's meshes and textures, those are always compatible, you just have to work on the variantmeshdefinitions.
And that really is the easiest part of modding unit appearance, just try it out!
It's rather self-explanatory...
I think the best start would be to import everything from variantmesh table into a pack of your own and fiddling with it^^
best regards

Ciao LEONARDO.
Grazie anticipatamente.
Luigi
