The next unit will be some-type of skirmisher units to replace the velites. please post any suggestions on appearance, stats abilities etc.. I recall some type of skirmisher unit for rome i that carried multiple javelens or pilums. It may have been part of a mod for rome I, maybe rsii.

I am glad you changed your mind about creating a skirmisher unit, which i suggested some time ago, your mod is really missing that type of unit.
The original Rome 1 had a unit called Light Auxilia which could replace Velites on reforms, RS2 had a unit called Antesignani of the same type.

Light Auxilia sounds like A winner. i finally got around to actually playing the campaign and realized how out of place the velites are when reaching the professional soldiery tech.

There is very little evidence to support the idea of a 'light' skirmishing unit, there was not practical need for the Legionary to fill such a role. That is what auxiliary units were for clearing away enemy units in rough terrain etc
There is the possibility of groups of legionnaires taking on a role of independent roles, but not as 'light' infantry. Sources do attest during the reign of Vespasian to the 'Lancarii' but again these would of been legionary in a guard duty role armed with javelins, see Josephus.

I presume Leonardo planned to create such unit as an auxilia unit not as a heavy armoured legionary armed with javelins.
I dont know is it historical or not, but it is safe to assume that such unit could exist.
Anyway i hope i am not the only one who would like to see such a unit or units in this mod.

    NEW MILESTONE!!!

11837 subscribers and climbing!! Probably 12000 in the next few days
    420 ratings

Unquestionably the BEST Roman Legions mod available!!

And still much, much more work to do

I want to thank all of those who have found their way to the TWC forum to offer their opinions and advice. Since this mod is a WIP it is constantly changing and evolving as I continue to rework models and textures.

Without support or interest I would have stopped working on it a long time ago. There would be little motivation for me spend countless hours working on this project for only a few hundred subscribers. Without support mods die, so thank all of you that have found this little TWC thread.

Attila: I receive countless messages about moving the mod over to attila. Someday that will be a possibility, however I will have to wait on another mod developer to create a “clean” vanilla rome II conversion for attila. So far the nothing yet.

Using ILOR Content; My contribution to the modding community is spending countless hours creating new content for players to enjoy. All they have to do to enjoy my contributions is to subscribe. I do not allow anything from my current ILOR project to be used in any other mod, period. This does not mean I am not a contributor to the community by any means, It just means that this content is exclusive to this mod only. So enjoy the ILOR mod, just do not extract my work and republish it in your own mod. That my friends will not do.

So enjoy Imperial Legions of Rome, and remember as long as there is support I will continue to expand the project

any possibility for late second/ third century legionaries? I am still worried about the lack of that time frame (my preferred one).

hmnn... well i do not want to create units for that period unless there is a 2nd/3rd century campaign to put them in. It is unlikely that a mod will be developed for that period any time soon so until then i will have to put that on the back burner for now

we could use them in custom battles (and i could make machinimas or remake ancient battles)...you would need simply to use the models you have withouth putting efforts. Like combining lorica squamata (that used by aquilifer or by vanilla general in cavarly) with cavalry helms and oval shields...and job is done..

Since you're reworking models constantly. I think the eagle cohort needs a bit of love. All other generic cohorts are updated. But the pride of the legion is still in early shape of your mod. Hope you have plans for this

Those are some pretty nice Romans there. Is there a version of this for Radious or DEI or something, or is it just for vanilla?

i am currently working on a short sleeve and length hamata varaint. i will also be reworking the clasp.

    progress:

here is a rear pick of shortened hamata with subarmolis. Each leather piece is created from individual pieces and not a single mesh with painted on straps. Much more difficult especially when matching rigging with vanilla pieces.
The model piece will as always have low poly lods.
It will be mixed in with some of existing hamata sets and be color changable
