WTH is the point in them.
Surely they are fantasy? THere may have been robbers in the woods, stealing from the rich, giving to the poor, but this is just silly.

The fact that they can hide anywhere makes them extremely useful since they are perfect for ambushing.
And if you tried the forester archers in RTW you will know that archers that can hide like that are deadly.

I know the item has a 'use' but im talking about the actual point of having such a such a fictional unit in game.. Maby there just a bit of fun anyway :tooth:

    It's not.
Look it's the battle of Agincourt.
So I think it's from the modded gold demo.

One thing that is good about forums like this, is that everybody has their own opinion on what is 'realistic' or 'fictional', which leads to many an interesting comment being made. Personally the thought of calling Sherwood Archers a fictional unit sounds wrong to me. Have there never been archers in the Sherwood Forest? Did men living or hiding there never band together to form a company? If even one such company was formed it would not be a 'fictional' unit in my opinion. These are very useful types of troops to have I would think. Able to kill from a long distance, able to hide almost anywhere, they have good melee attacks as well. Seems to me like a fun unit to command as well a useful unit. I am looking forward to try them out on the battlefield, obviously these are not garrison rats.

The leader of the Sherwood archers is Robin Wood a terrible archer but you couldn't play the Sherwood Archers next to the English Knights or the English King because they could fire and steal the Knights to redistributed the gold for all peasants. :tooth:

Seriously I a little fantasy touch is ok and better than some units in RTW.

Robin Hood and his merry men are historical fact!!

Everyone knows that they lived in a magic oak tree in sherwood forest and were like, really good with bows and arrows! I have seen loads of films about Robin Hood so I know what I am talking about.
"Can you believe it, Ariadne?" said Theseus, wiping the blood from his sword. "The Minotaur barely defended itself."
