Default Unit Colours - MOC is doing it

I was thinking it would be nice to be able to have a unit colour and customisation system like Mark of chaos and a few other games have (Dawn of War, Homeworld 1 & 2 even sid meirs railroads)

This would allow you to change bodyparts and colour schemes in a unit even changing symbology and banners.

Wow thats pretty cool. Yeah I wish there was more in-game customisability in TW.

    Doesnt relate to Total War.

The entire premise of TW is that you take one of 17 factions to glory...

not design your own faction then take it to glory.

… indeed; You are not designing your own faction. However, something of these lines might be interesting for multiplayer, though Mark of Chaos… was a bit uninspiring when I played the demo, so perhaps Creative Assembly has it right.

Don't listen to this guy. He is payed by the CA to bug everyone who find only the slightest improvment on M2TW. If it were up to him we would be playin modded versions of STW and be giddy like school girls. :tooth: "Who needs 3D? That's not the object of this game. It is to conquer the world in 2D. Pay the money and shut up. "

Either that or he is a program unleashed by CA. In this case, this AI is really smart. Sorry they didn't use it in the game. Ooopps. Waiting to be slapped.

Do any of you also have a passionate hatred of faction colors? I do.

I find that comment funny especialy after being suspended for 3 days a couple weeks ago when i joked that somebody should rob CA and steal the game whilst tazering them

    Theres never a happy medium...

Im either a blood lusting CA hater or a fanboy...

Medieval factions for the most part did not usually have "national faction colours" rather they were a huge variation.
Since medieval Total War 2 does not really change the themed faction colour past giving a little variation perhaps it would be good to be able to change colour schemes.

The French are still 90% blue for example!!! This does not look realistic but is just so you can recognise your troops. It is done for gameplay purposes. All I am suggesting is that you are able to choose your own colours instead of the game itself choosing a ficitious or "compromise" colour for your army.

I am also suggesting that you choose and customise colours for your individual units. This will make things look a little more historical than less!!.... in the demo I do not see any realistic heraldry to the point where prominent knights heraldry in its proper colours is displayed and his followers either are dressed with his uniform OR are dressed how they like.
Rather I see 5 or so banners with symbols and almost the same coloured heraldry everywhere in a faction.

This is an impovement but why not let us customise our own units. Remember this is what pretty much the people did anyway in medieval history. The changes allowed do not have to be ahistorical. You could even restrict western noble units to using heraldic rules.
OR make sure that prominent lords and faction heir heraldry cannot be changed.
But colours in medieval times for soldiers came in every flavour for almost any faction

Yeah, the purple makes them look like a gay pride parade. Gay horse archers? Who woulda thought.

But I meant faction colors in general. They are just so stupid as an above post pointed out. This is war not a soccer game. CA has made each kingdom into a "team" with its own "jersey". Faction colors for all units really is one of those aesthetic thing that really takes away from the games feel.

Also has anybody here noticed that there are just way too many fluttering banners/flags in units in M2TW? Its just so distracting.

You can recognize your troops with banners. They are quite big enough for that.

i think that TW games dont deen fascion designers... only good starategiests and programers... i think units look fine already and i woul not change them... though every option like that would make game more interesting. =)
