How do I adjust the King's Purse?
The one last adjustment I'd like to make to EB 2.01 is to bring the AI economy down to something reasonable. The hotfixes and other adjustments we have for EB2 make it excellent, but this is one last thing that I'd like to adjust before I start a new campaign.
1. It will prevent the AI from quadruple stacking armies the way it does now
2. It will decrease the tedium of having to fight 4 battles every turn once you are a few decades into a campaign
3. It will make economic warfare actually mean something (blockading ports, etc).
So, how do I decrease the King's Purse, or whatever script it is that makes the AI factions be able to recruit dozens of stacks when it only has a few provinces?
Thanks!

you can take a look in the desrc_stat file. search in world/maps/campaing/imperial_campaign .
but why do want an easy campaign? maybe just play on lower campaign difficult - less stacks with lower unitnumbers or build armies and destroy this stacks...

Have you even played Tartaros? Literally everybody is aware and complains about the problematic number of doomstacks any AI faction has after 100+ turns in and there's people wondering about the best way to fix this. Battles feel rather pointless when you're not really achieving anything by killing one stack.

Interesting. Some factions have a 3000-5000 denari as a King's purse, and some have 0. Something else must be causing the AI to endlessly recruit new units.

Re: How do I adjust the King's Purse?
Not sure if the king's purse is the culprit, but the stack spam becomes terrible. It's especially noticeable when trying to finish off a single territory faction that seems to have more manpower and resources than your 10-state kingdom.
I don't want an easy campaign. Fighting fewer battles doesn't mean = easy.
I definitely don't want one where the battles I fight are never decisive, because the single settlement faction has 3 more stacks to fight before I can get to their capital, and by the time I do, there will be 3 more of them anyway. This is not a matter of ease or difficulty, it's a matter of good gameplay versus a tedious grind.
EB II's campaign plays well until you get further along and too many factions have stack spam in spades. The EDU badly needs multi-turn recruitment for all elites as well, some should be only 2 turns, while more powerful or just more historically rare should be 3 turns. I'm seeing Saka full stack armies with 10 noble cavalry units -- destroy it at great cost, and there's 2 more stacks behind it, all with 4-8 more noble cavalry elites. And in over 100 turns fighting them, have only seen them field 1 of the lowly foot javelin units. I like that they really have a mounted culture reflected in their armies, but that's madness. Needs some pretty serious, although simple tweaking.
All of this should be fairly simple changes, there just needs to be people working on it, priority above all else. I believe the mod's at the point where more units or more depth of campaign is meaningless until the battles and the stack spam -- these basic mechanics are brought up to spec.
There's already more (and better) work done on depth and features than some AAA titles, so fix the basics!

That sounds like the replenishment rate is the problem, not the recruitment time. Take a look at the EDB and see what the rates are set at. And the recruit_priority_offset might need to be looked at.
