    Icon5 Steam workaround?

To my surprise, most RS players I've met actually don't use Steam. This boggles me. This may also be attributed to the lack of a fix for Steam players like myself for this mod. In my pondering, I have concocted an idea to make RS work for Steam players once again.

Modfoldered mods like Rome: Total Realism and Europa Barbarorum still work for post-mod breaking Steam patch Rome. I have taken notice that Roma Surrectum's campaigns are all essentially modfolders, that of which are launched by using the RS launcher.

Would it be possible for us Steam users to use the nifty "Set launch options..." to manually target a modfolder, such as -mod: Play Rome (or something) so as to play that Roma Surrectum campaign?

    Thanks.

The problem is Roma Surrectum is not modfoldered in the way you think. You can't actually run vanilla from your RS folder because base files have also been changed.

Somehow, the "patched" steam exe does not play nice with these changed files.

EDIT: It is not just running mods and the like, even vanilla RTW (Steam, post-patch) has some issues like the AI... somehow

    Well, damn.

Too bad it's impossible to find a hard, non-Steam copy of R:TW these days, becuase I've been having to put up with De Bello Mundi for M2:TW as a replacement for the Roma Surrectum experience. (M2's endless shield bashing and sword hand punching drives me crazy...)
