    Default Granary Construction Site

    Resources Consumed
    - 1 Unit of Stone from the treasurey of Rome
    - 2 Units of Lead from the treasurey of Rome
    - 1 Unit of Stone from the Senator Fortunas

The site starts to fill on a crisp morning. Men bring in stone, wood, and lead, bringing them to preplanned depot areas. The area begins to fill the sounds of people, stone and saws, and food as the workers begin construction on the new granary site. Various plebeians start to gather to watch as the scaffolding starts to take shape. Nearby, the lead-mason is talking with the Senator Fortunas about the construction plans.

The beginning of the foundations take place over the last few days. a clear outline can be seen in stone. Men on the scaffolding are making measurements and yelling it to the men below, who continue their work raising the walls and pillars to support the building. Supplies are brought in by wagon, being offloaded in the proper areas, as men move them to the work areas in neat piles. Off to the side, a set of pavilions have been set up with food and drink for the workers, the smell of fish and bread permeating the air.

The Senator Fortunas is off on the side, by the pavilions, talking to a pair of construction workers, going over the plan as he has repeatedly for the past few days. He stresses the point that the site must be built well, and to be careful to ensure it is done right. He continues talking as the sounds of hammers, stone, and voices fill the air around. Finally, he appears satisfied, and dismisses the workers back to work, turning to the young boy at his side, his son Caius. He tells the boy about the importance of the people, and how we must consider them in everything we do.

Valerius walks by the construction site down by the docks on the Tiber. He hopes it will be large enough for the expected grain.

The walls have begun to take shape, towering over the people reinforcing the base. The structure has clear shape now, and is well supported as it grows. Various men are at one end, digging the area for the drop-off site, where the other side is set up in a small alcove where bags of grain can be handed out. The me are jovial as they work, stating that the granaries are near completion.

The building is nearing completion. The stores of materials near the site have been running low, and with reason. Parts of the Roof, and a final finish to the granaries are all that remain. As the bustling workers carry on their work an announcement is made for all spare hands to attend to the Well of the Comitia, where the Senator Fortunas will be making a speech regarding the granaries. All the non-essential workers begin to head over there in a trickle as they put away their tools.

The people gather as The Senator Fortunas brings forth a bull for sacrifice. They gather around the pit, waiting patiently and quietly as more people gather, waiting to see if the Priest of Mars will show to lead them in prayer and lead the rites. The smell of meat, bread, and fruit fill the air as the food is prepared, and the site is prepared for a full festival.

The prayers begin to Mars, the crowd silent as the Senator Fortunas speaks, offering this bull, and their blessings to their troops abroad, so that they may triumph in battle, so they may return to live in their glory, and for those who will die to die gloriously, bringing their families honour and fortune. He gestures for the bull to be brought forth, but before giving the sacrifice, he motions for Senator Tiberius to come forth and give a prayer, as co-host of the festival.

    Thank you senator Fortunas

Tiberius then would turn himself to the public and begin with speaking

People of Rome, it's an honour to speak in front of for you at this beautiful day, a day blessed by the gods of Rome! Mars, god of many wars have blessed us romans with our enemy, what we face is not worthy of being called an enemy because we romans with the blessing of the gods will see blood of the barbarians in the north. We will bathe in their blood! If all do their duty it will be an glorious Roman victory, so let us roman send the screaming barbarians back from where they come from, only to be forgotten in the books of history while we romans with the blessings of Mars will be remembered as the saviours of the civilized world!

    Tiberius rose his right hand

And remember romans: our gods are watching us! Make sure they're not ashamed! for Rome, for Rome, for Rome!

Tiberius turned back to senator Fortunas

    Proceed with the sacrifice senator

Quintus Aurelius Orestes Unimanus arrived at the construction site as it was finished, looking over it with a scrutinizing gaze.
He and Naso were the Praetors for this year, and the senior officials in the city since the Consuls left for war.

"What if the Tiber floods?" He asked to no one in particular, but many workers and officials were about to hear it.

Aelianus would have arrived at the festival and observed it with a bitter taste in his mouth... A sacrifice to Mars without the Flamen Martialis present... Anyhow, he might as well place some bets.

"A hundred denarii each on Gaius the Smith, Sextus the veteran, and Vibius the farmer!" He would announce to a nearby book-keeper.

The sacrifice is duly performed, the rites given. A moment's disappointment for the no-show Flamen Martialis, but ls, the moment done. Mars has been asked to provide our troops with victory, and now it is in the hands of the Consuls and the Gods to decide the outcome. The Senator Fortunas stands on a raised platform to talk to the assembled crowds.

"People of Rome, the rite are done, and the die is cast. Let us enjoy this festival today, and wish our troops luck, and enjoy the food for it is free! Any who wish to place bets please talk to the book keeper right away. Else, enjoy yourselves, and have fun on this merry day."

He gestures to stalls with bread and fruit, and to the book keeper as he speaks.

"Now, enjoy yourselves, unless Senator TIberius has any last words. Enjoy yourselves people of Rome, and let us rejoice!"

Aelianus would tour the new granaries, admiring them slightly as he mingled with the people and openly talked. Hearing that the betting was coming to an end he gave a slight smile, he did hope he won.

The Senator Fortunas once again takes the stage, making one more announcement for the people gathered.

"People of Rome, enjoy the grain and fruit. The grain is from my own farms, and I assure you, the bread will taste good! The fruit is from the Tribune Gnaesus, your Tribune, and I urge you thank him for his donation."

(Note - .5 modi of Grain and 1 modi of Fruit have been provided for Food, as well as 600 Denarii for the contest winners.)

The festival slowly peters off as people start to leave, bread and fruit pieces everywhere. Cleaning crews come out to sweep it away, and the granary is left staffed.

The Festival is officially Over, with results on the contests waiting. (If Senator Longus wins any, he will be paid)

(Construction done, proposal done, food supplied by me and Tribune Gnaesus, hosted by me and Senator Tiberius)
