Re: The Curia Hostilia: The Consulship of Aquila and Gurges
"Today Senators, I notice we lack a Plebeian Aedile. May I nominate myself to fill my old post, and please the plebeians with the construction of the public granaries?"
Re: The Curia Hostilia: The Consulship of Aquila and Gurges
Aelianus would have risen soon after taking his seat, slightly disappointed with his election results but determined to not stop him.
"Seeing as the Curile Aedileship also has to be filled I volunteer myself for that position; it would go hand-in-hand with my position of Flamen running the festivals, and we surely do need more celebrations. For too long have the plebeians been neglected in the areas of entertainment. We surely, must fix this, must we not?"
Re: The Curia Hostilia: The Consulship of Aquila and Gurges
"With this year, I can certainly finish it, as well as a festival as well, to be held in the Circus Maximus. It shall be grand, and it shall be a way to keep our people of Rome happy."
The senator speaks out calmly, waiting for the others to make comment.
Re: The Curia Hostilia: The Consulship of Aquila and Gurges
"I believe you had approval last year to build a granary. If supplies were all that you were waiting for, through no fault of your own, then please finish building a needed improvement to the city."
Valerius answered. "We should wait for the consuls before we discuss matters of war."

"I shall attend to the granaries presently. As for the consuls, I do agree, though having an immediate proposal ready to be put forth once they arrive is never a bad idea."
Re: The Curia Hostilia: The Consulship of Aquila and Gurges
Consul Aquila arrived to take his seat. This year looked to be even more troublesome than the last.
Senators, we must muster our legions immediately. The Celts move through Umbria; nothing good can come of it. I intend to take our army north, and, if the Umbrians have any remaining forces, to join with them and drive out the invaders before they set foot in our lands.
Re: The Curia Hostilia: The Consulship of Aquila and Gurges
"Consul, I agree with this notion and believe the raising of the four legions should be put to bill immediately; I suggest all four we can muster be raised to combat this threat as we need to send a strong message. When fighting the Samnites we only sent two at first and suffered because of this, this time we need to muster all of our forces to ensure victory."
Re: The Curia Hostilia: The Consulship of Aquila and Gurges
"I concur. We must not allow the mistakes of the last war to be repeated so quickly. It will also be a show of strength to the other peoples that they cannot ignore."

Re: The Curia Hostilia: The Consulship of Aquila and Gurges
Consul Gurges arrives to take his seat, anxious for his first year as Consul
I believe that the Latin league should be called upon to muster their two legions to be ready and in reserve nearer to Rome, should our legions somehow fail to stop the Insubres in Umbria. This way perhaps we can allow them some rest from fighting, instead of constantly keeping them in war and potentially harm our relationship.
Re: The Curia Hostilia: The Consulship of Aquila and Gurges
"Such an idea is foolish, we learnt from the Samnite War that we should not deploy our forces in pairs of legions to the theatre of warfare but rather as a greater combined force. I suggest that we call upon a single legion from the Latin League, three should still be enough to drive back the Celts. If the Latins choose to go against us so be it - they have broken their bonds many times before and each time they have been humbled."
Re: The Curia Hostilia: The Consulship of Aquila and Gurges
"I will remind all that each Consul will have under their control two Roman legions and two Latin Socii. If we raise all four legions, the consuls will have to work together."
