    Default French Unit Roster

It seems they have a lot of heavy cavalery and the last one should be the Lancer the most powerfull heavy knight.
a good selection of missile unit with especially crossbowmen and Scot guard.
    a good artillery
an average/poor infantery with nothing special.

Wow, looks like Scotland actually gets some pretty decent units later in the game. Not just all Kilts and claymores

Haha, no, in fact we all still live in mud huts. My computer is powered by the dung from my cattle, and im constantly itching my lower regions because we have not discovered such a thing as underwear. Oh, but we did invent the steam engine, radio and televison (you could say), amoung many other things

On topic I must say that Scotland seems to have a decent line up of units, as do the Turks, not so sure about the Egyptians though. France obviously has a good selection of heavy cavalry and I am now leaning towards them as my first campaign. Maybe Venice, or perhaps England, no wait Sicily or... oh the anticipation is driving me nuts.

It seems strange than Scotland doesn't have Arquebuse or Musket units? but at least they have a good artillery.

Crossbowmen and Scot guards 'll wipe your longbowmen and next come the heavy cavalery charge... outch (it's too horrible).

I notice France has 3 archer units, peasant archers, Scot Guards archers and the last one I don't know perhaps they are the Francs-Archers?

Well even in the 1745 Jacobite Rebellion, Highlanders armed with mainly boardsword and and small shield managed to defeat the Musket armed Honoverians with their famous highland change.. until Culloden that is where the muddy terrain curbed its effectiveness greatly. Theyd usually fire one shot of a musket or pistol then enage in hand to hand combat, where any soldier with a simple musket bayonet stands no chance to a broadsword weilding highlander

Just goes to show that musket power wasnt all that effective agains apparently "primitive" armies.

True but we should still have a couple of GP units, we also used them during the English civil war. I don't mind the kilted units but its the fact that there is not alot of lowlander units to balance them out, we should have a few more genreic units like the old men at arms or armoured swordsmen. At the start we should look like they've got it the now but as time goes on we should start to look a little more european. Thats the way i see it at least.

It would be annoying if I would play Scottish, Conquer the world up to Jerusalem and still not be able to develop Musketeers. I am hoping CA will introduce a system were any faction can get GP units.
